Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Mon Sept 27 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship. The Porgies were off the bite today. We were marking them and we did find some, it was just picky. There were plenty of SeaBass and it was not a problem with everyone getting their limit. We also has about 10 Cod and a bunch of Bergalls. First place pool winner was Everton Devonish from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Sammi from Queens with a 7 lb Cod.

Sun Sept 26 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports steady fishing today on the Viking Starship. They anchored up in the morning just south of Block Island and caught a mix of large sized Porgies and Sea Bass and Cod. The Sea Bass size ranged from 2-4 lbs and there were about half a dozen Cod fish on the boat. Conditions were a bit rough with the wind, but didn’t affect the fishing. The first place pool winner went to Ernesto Luna of Lakewood, NJ with a 3.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Willie Recinos of Lindenhurst, NY with a 10 lb Cod.

Sun Sept 26- 1/2 Day AM

Sat Sept 25 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day on the Viking Starship! We stayed south of Block Island on the anchor all day. We tried out three different spots that all produced medium to large Porgies and very nice sized SeaBass from 2 lbs to 4 lbs. We also had 2 Cod and a lot of Mackerel. The first place pool winner was Cesar Lora from Shirley, NY with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Andis Carcamo from Bronx, NY with a 4 lb SeaBass.

Sat Sept 25 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports good fishing on the Viking Star for the AM portion of the half-day boat. Lots of action with a mixed selection of Porgies, Sea Bass and Fluke. The pool winner went to Juan Carlos Gallardo of Carmel N.Y. with a 4lb Fluke.

Tue Sept 21 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. It was slower than it has been inshore at Block Island, so we worked our way offshore. We made a lot of stops and had fish everywhere we looked. Some spots better than others. There were mostly Large Porgies and SeaBass with some really nice Jumbos mixed in. The pool winner was Donstan Lindsey with a 3 lb Porgy. The trip is cancelled tomorrow due to weather.

Mon Sept 20 – Full Moon Striped Bass

Capt Carl was happy to report a couple of Striped Bass were kept tonight, but also sad to report just a couple. Things looked promising on our second drift when we landed 2 nice slot limit keepers and a few missed bites. The next drift produced just 1 Bluefish. The drift after that, we landed another slot limit keeper Striped Bass. Unfortunately, that was the end of the action for the night. We drilled out that area for a while with no more bites, then ventured off to many other spots but to no avail. Thank you to everyone for grinding it out! We do not have any more Striped Bass trips scheduled this year at this time, but keep an eye out on our website because when the fall run starts, we may add some day and night trips.

Mon Sept 20 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a fantastic day on the Viking Starship. We stayed up close to Block Island all day. The morning started out with tough conditions due to the fast drift. It eased off and fishing got better and better all day. We had plenty of Porgies and SeaBass along with some Fluke and Trigger…

Sun Sept 18 – Full Moon Striped Bass

Capt Carl reports similar lackluster results on the Night Striped Bass trip again… although, we did see a couple of Striped Bass for the night. We found one little zone where we caught a slot limit keeper. The very next drift, we caught another Bass that was too big, and another that was too small. Then, unfortunately the night went quiet for the remainder. We only saw 1 Bluefish and a few SeaBass so all in all, it was quiet as the fall run has not yet begun. We are sailing tonight at 6pm so call the office at 631 668 5700 to reserve.
