Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Sun Nov 8 – Local Cod and Sea Bass

Capt JR reports an exceptional day on the Viking Star. Excellent Sea Bass fishing from start to finish. Nonstop action with jumbo Knotheads flying over the rail. We also caught Cod on every drop. Several of the Cod were significantly larger than the ones we had been catching earlier in the season. The Cod pool went to Franklin Reyes of Manhattan, NY with a 13.1 lber. The SeaBass pool went to Danny Ko of Brooklyn NY with 5.2 lber.

Sat Nov 7 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was great inside Block Island in the shallow water. We spent the morning drifting around catching medium to large Porgies with some SeaBass in the mix. After that we headed offshore and found Trophy SeaBass! The biggest kind along with mixed size Porgies and a handful of Cod mixed in. The first place pool winner was Luis Runa from NJ with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Luis Inga from Queens with a 12 lb Cod.

Sat Nov 7 – Local Cod & SeaBass

Capt Derek reports a good trip on the Viking Star. It started out slow, then when we made a move it got much better. We had double and triple headers coming over the rail. The SeaBass fishing was very good! The First Place Cod Pool winner was Curtis Highsmith from Southampton, NY with a 12.5 lber. The SeaBass pool was a tie between Fernando Flores from Brooklyn, NY and Tyrone Brock from New Windsor, NY with 4.5 lbers.

Sat Nov 7 – Ultra LTD Blackfish and Sea Bass

Capt Jr reports an excellent day on the Viking Starlite. In fact our best trip to date!  Most anglers had their limit of Blackfish and all had their limit of Sea Bass. We also had some Cod mixed in on most drops today as well. Pool winners to follow.

Sat Nov 7 – Block Island Seabass/Blackfish/Cod Charter

Capt Steven Jr reports a slammer day with Chris Cash and the gang on the Viking Fivestar.  They caught a boat limit of Blackfish and a quick easy Seabass limit later in the day. We had solid action all day and the group went home with a nice load of fillets!!

Fri Nov 6 – Block Island Seabass/Cod/Blackfish

Capt Steven Jr reports that we put together another great day of bottom fishing around Block Island on the Viking Fivestar. We had a load of nice Seabass, a good shot of Blackfish and a few Cod. We had improvement in the black fishing resulting in a few guys getting their limit and some quality fish coming up. We are sailing Thursday thru Sunday and we have limited openings in November, so give us a call at the office and get booked while you still can. (631)668-5700 / vikingfleet.com

Fri Nov 6 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. We had a good shot early with a mix of Porgies and SeaBass up close to the island to about 100 feet out. There were plenty of fish in the shallows and we drifted until it got too fast. We then went out to the deep and anchored up. We had a handful of Cod and some nice sized SeaBass. The dogfish were not much of a bother today. The first place pool winner was Michael Bolton with a 2.5 lb Porgy. Franklin Tejada won the edible pool with a 10 lb Cod. All trips are sold out this weekend! Please give us a call 631-668-5700 or book online at vikingfleet.com to get on these popular trips!!

Thurs Nov 5 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day on the Viking Starship. It was solid SeaBass to start, making it tough to get to the Porgies. Fortunately there were very few dogfish today. We pulled it out on the last drop with a steady pick of medium to large Porgies with pretty much everyone getting their limit. There were also a handful of Cod. Not a lot, but good sized from 10 to 20 lbs. There was a tie for the pool between Delroy Carter from Amityville, Long Island and Mark Wright from Mt. Vernon, NY with 2.5 lb Porgies.

Wed Nov 4- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day despite numerous dogfish who would not leave us alone during the first few hours of the trip.  We had to work a little harder as the water was still a little muddy after the storm but we stuck at it and by day’s everyone had their Porgy limit. The Sea bass bit very very well and all anglers landed their limit. We also had  Cod came up on almost every drop, the largest weighing in at around 20lb. Overall a great day and Capt. Dave predicts it will get even better over the next few days as the weather improves. Donald Hyde of Bronx NY won today’s Porgy pool with a 2lb Porgy. Jasper James caught a beautiful 20 lber to take the Cod pool . We are sailing daily at 5am. Check…

Wed Nov 4 – 30 to 50 Mile Wreck Trip

Capt Steven Jr reports a good day fishing the wrecks on the Viking Fivestar. We had slower fishing then last week, but still got what we needed to send everyone home with a load of fish. We had some Cod on every drop with the biggest weighing in at 18 lbs. We again had the quality sized Seabass and a load of Ling.
