Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Thurs Aug 6 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports excellent Porgy fishing by the Lighthouse. We had one long drift over at the Lighthouse where we caught tons of beautiful Porgies. We decided to spend the rest of the day Seabassing. We caught gorgeous Seabass, some big Striped Bass, and some very nice Fluke. It was a great day and everyone went home happy. The pool winner was Matthew Jin with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Nicky from Brooklyn, NY with a 5 lb Fluke.

Thurs Aug 6 – 1/2 Day Charter – Viking Five Star

Capt Derek reports excellent fishing this afternoon on the Viking Fivestar. We took a bit of a ride this afternoon, but it was well worth it. Both spots we fished had nice jumbo Seabass and Porgies. We got lucky at the second spot we fished and caught two nice keeper Cod and a short Striped Bass. Overall we got our limit of Seabass and a nice pile of jumbo Porgies.

Thurs Aug 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a slow morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. It appears that the recent effects of the storm earlier this week are still being felt. We ended up with some nice Porgies and a few Sea Bass. The first place pool winner was Ben Sak from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.5 lb Sea Bass. The second place pool winner was Jen Becker from Medford New York with a 2 lb Sea Bass.

Mon Aug 3 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We stayed away from the lighthouse due to the full moon tide. Down the beach we had a good steady pick of nice size Porgies, a handful of SeaBass, and a bunch of Trigger fish. We headed to our offshore SeaBass spot and found it loaded with small fish. The fishing was fast with mostly double headers throwbacks, but everyone had a few keepers. The pool winner was Lloyd Steward from Brooklyn with a 3.1 lb Porgy. Pool winners to follow. All trips are CANCELLED Tuesday, Aug 4th and Wednesday Aug 5th due to weather.

Sun Aug 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Sun Aug 2-1/2 Day PM Capt JR  reports difficult conditions and high winds kept us from fishing our usual hot spots. Despite that we had a decent trip with some Porgies and a few really nice Sea Bass. The pool winner was Tommy Peccia from Bayville, NY with a 4.75 lb Seabass.

Sun Aug 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports an action packed morning on the Viking Star. Jumbo Porgies was the primary catch with some nice size Sea Bass mixed in. We also had several large Fluke. All around great trip. The pool winner was Joe Roshinko from Manhattan, NY with a 7.5 lb Fluke.

Sun Aug 2 – LTD Passenger – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Steven Sr. reports a great trip on the Viking Starlite. The full moon tide made drifting at the beginning of the trip very aggravating! The fishing got better as the tide changed and it was “Porgy Time”. Porgies were so hungry, anglers had a hard time even getting their lines to the bottom without a double headers. Some nice size Sea Bass in the mix made for another successful trip. The pool winner for today was Javier Fuentes 13 years old from Rockville Centre, NY with a 3 lb Porgy.
