Thurs Sept 27

Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. The early Porgy fishing was a “Bail Job” with Jumbos coming over the rails! We headed offshore for the SeaBass where we made a couple of drops and found Big SeaBass, some Porgies and a few Cod that weighed in the teens. The pool winner was Danny Lee from Manhattan with a 3.3 lb Porgy.

Wed Sept 26

Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. We had mostly Large Porgies and they bit their heads off!! There was also a lot of SeaBass action. We had to pick thru the little ones, but everyone had close to their limit. The pool winner was Ifa Gordon from NYC with a 3 1/4 lb Porgy.

Tue Sept 25

2 Night Tuna-LTD Fri Sept 21 to Sun Sept 23 Capt Jerry reports an okay trip on the Viking Star. There was a lot of action on day one with trolling. We also had 70+ Mahi, Yellowfin, Wahoo, and a Mako Shark. The Tuna pool winner was Kwang Oh from Southampton, NY with a 58 lb Yellowfin. The edible pool winner was Chuck Palmer from New London, NH with a 32 lb Wahoo.  

Mon Sept 24

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an excellent day of fishing on the Starship today.  We started off drifting early and caught the fish well. When the wind came on we anchored up ad fishing got even better. We did land Porgies of mixed size but had plenty of Jumbos mixed in. We headed Sea Bass fishing then and  even though they started off being a little picky we kept on them and pretty much everyone had their limit. Today’s pool was won by Jimmy Lin of Flushing NY with a 3lb porgy. The edible pool was won by Ayfer Karwoski from PA with a 3.5lb Sea Bass.

Half Day Fishing  (Sunday Sept 23) A slow and then steady pick of porgies and seabass this afternoon. When we got back out the conditions were still tough with north east wind, we went around the point and had a slow pick of mostly short seabass and some porgies. When the tide slacked off we went east and found a good pile of jumbo porgies to round off the trip. Everyone went home with some fillets.

PM Half Day Fishing Trip Capt. Derrick reports a great trip with tons of fish, and big porgies. The pool winner was 10 year old Ryleigh Hernandez From Huntington, NY with a 4.1 lb porgy.

Block Island Porgy and Sea bass Trip Capt. Dave reports an excellent trip with lots of porgies. It was a little slow on the sea bass. Was a lot of fish to be caught but had to pick through them to get the good ones. The first place pool winner was Victor Suero Bronx, NY with a 3lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Santo Green from Bronx, NY with a 15lb striped bass.

AM Half Day Fishing Trip Capt. Derrick reports improved fishing from yesterday although the conditions were still very tough with east wind. We managed a bunch of mixed size porgies and seabass. We also had about a dozen short fluke. The pool winner was Bridget Eagan from Patchogue NY with a 4.4 lb seabass.

Sat Sept 22

Night Striped Bass Fishing Trip Capt Carl reports a slow night on the Bass boat tonight. We had some action in the beginning of the trip with a couple Bass being landed, but as the tide eased off against the North wind, the bite stopped for us after the first hour. William Bailey of Montauk, NY took first place in the pool with a 22 pounder, and Billy Stanzione from Bohemia, NY took second with a 15 pound striped bass.
