Schedule Update – Thur Jan 11 Block Island Winter Cod Trip is cancelled. Fishing was very slow today on the Cod grounds. We will get back out there after this next blow and hopefully fishing will have improved. We are watching the weather but as of now our next trip is scheduled to sail on Sun Jan 14 at 4am. Block Island Mixed Bag Capt Steven Sr reports a slow day to end the Mixed Bag Season. We had a slow start to the day with only a handful of fish on the first drop. After that we had a quiet few hours with a slow pick of Cod. The last drift saved the trip, where we had a steady pick, that produced Cod, Sea Bass and Ling! The pool winner was Brandon Hecht from Southampton, NY with a 12 lb Cod. The 5am Block Island Mixed Bag trip is cancelled for tomorrow, Sunday Dec 31st. The office will be closed on Sunday Dec 31st and Monday Jan 1st. We are monitoring the weather for the Tuesday, Jan 2nd – 4am Block Island Winter Cod Trip. Block Island Mixed Bag Captain Steven Sr reports an okay day of fishing today aboard the Viking Star. It was a true mixed bag today with sea bass, a handful of porgies, some cod, ling, mackerel and bergals. David McGilvray had the high hook today with 3 cod, 8 sea bass and 3 bergals. Walter Lesniewski of Lindenhurst took the first and second place pool with a 14lb and 12lb cod!

Mixed Bag- Cod/SeaBass/Porgies – Viking Star Capt Dave reports tough day of fishing on the Viking Star. The bite was slow, but we did manage a handful of Porgies and Sea Bass for the small crowd we had today. We also had about a dozen Cod. The pool winner was Richard Miller from Holbrook, NY with an 11 lb Cod. We will be closed tomorrow, December 24th & Christmas Day. We will be open at 4am on Tue, Dec 26h for the Mixed Bag- Cod/SeaBass/Porgy trip departing at 5am. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Block Island Cod & Sea Bass Capt Steven Sr reports a slow pick today on the Viking Fivestar. We had very grey sky’s with an East wind, producing uncooperative conditions. We managed a few Cod and Sea Bass, along with some Christmas Eels! The next trip on the Viking Fivestar will be on January 3rd for Block Island Cod. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Block Island Mixed Bag Captain Dave reports a slow day aboard the Viking Star. It was a slow, but steady pick of poriges, some sea bass and cod. Overall it was a fair day and everyone went home with some filets. Today’s first place pool winner was Osman Kovacevac of Staten Island with a 14.2lb codfish and in second place was Steve Schwarz of the Bronx with a 3.3lb porgy.

Block Island Mixed Bag Captain Stephen D reports a slow day aboard the Viking Star today. We looked around a lot, we had a bite in the morning of some cod, but wasn’t able to keep it throughout the day. The pool winner was Jose Vasquez of NY with an 11lb codfish.

Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a better day today on the Viking Star. We went further offshore and found a decent pick of all large sized Porgies, Sea Bass and Cod. We then moved further south and found a slow pick of Jumbo Porgies, a few Sea Bass and a couple of Cod. The pool winner today was Ronald Cruz with a 17 lb Cod. The Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass is CANCELLED for tomorrow, Wed Dec 20th.
