Montauk

Tue Dec 20 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship. The fishing was not as good as Sunday. There were plenty of Sea Bass in the medium size range, but we only caught a handful of Porgies and a couple of Cod. The pool winner was Christopher McNamara from Westbury, NY with a 2 lb Porgy. The weather is beautiful for tomorrow, so come on out! The office opens a 4am for ticket sales. You can also book online at vikingfleet.com

Sun Dec 18 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports steady fishing today on the Viking Starship. Fishing was slow today, but steady, we didn’t need to do much moving around as we had a consistant pull of fish at the first spot. We had to pick our way through a lot of little SeaBass, but everyone seemed to have their limit of Porgies and SeaBass. There were about a handful of Cod on the boat today, and over all pretty good fishing considering how late into the season we are. The winner of our only pool on the boat today went to Mr. Parks from Brooklyn with a 3.3 lb Porgy. We will not be sailing tomorrow (Monday, December 19th) on our 5am Block Island Porgies and SeaBass due to windy condions, but are looking forward to getting out Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Thurs Dec 15 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass

Full report to follow….. Cod Pool Winner – Jay Kim from Palisades Park, NY with a 10 lber. Sea Bass Pool winner – Jeff Carlson from Mattituck, NY with a 4.5 lber.

Thurs Dec 15 – Schedule Update

Tue Dec 13 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports decent fishing on the Viking Starship. It took a few spots to find them this morning, but when we did there was very good action with a nice mix of Porgies and Sea Bass. We also had about a dozen Pollock and a handful of Cod. The pool winner was Miss Nancy from New York City with a 2 3/4lb Porgy. Unfortunately all trips are cancelled tomorrow due to weather.

Fri Dec 9 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing today on the Viking Star. The raging full moon tide, along with strong wind, and dirty water made for poor weather conditions for fishing. We did pretty good on the SeaBass with a few nice sized in the mix, but the Porgies just did not seem to be biting. We did managed to get 3-4 cod fish on the boat today, but overall it was rough fishing. The winner of the only pool on the boat today was Jeff Lin from Queens with a 2.3 lb Porgy. We are unfortunately cancelled tomorrow on our 5am Block Island Porgies and SeaBass due to poor weather, but our looking to get out again on Sunday, December 11th.

Thurs Dec 8 – Coxes Cod & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a good day on the Viking Star. Sea Bass fishing was absolutely fantastic with sizes ranging from medium to jumbos. There were a few Cod on every drop, but it was a bit difficult to get to them with all the Sea Bass around. The Cod pool winner was Brian Khan from Deer Park, NY with a 9 lber. The Sea Bass pool winner was Simon Choi from New York City with a 5 1/2 lber. We will be sailing on Thursday’s through the end of December for this trip. You can book online at vikingfleet.com or give us a call at 631-668-5700.

Thurs Dec 8 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports another decent day of fishing on the Viking Superstar. Fishing has been consistent with a decent catch and a lot of action. Everywhere we went was a good mix of Porgies and Sea Bass. We are starting to see the winter fish move in with some Pollock and about a dozen Cod. The winner of both pools was Mr. Yiu from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy and a 5 lb Pollock. The only trip sailing tomorrow is Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass at 5AM on the Viking Star. The office will open at 4am for check in and ticket sales.

Tue Dec 6 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports another fine day of fishing on the Viking Star. It was a very solid mix of Porgies and Sea Bass with more Porgies than we have been seeing lately. The Porgies were mostly in the large size range. We also had about 1/2 dozen Cod. There was no pool today. The 5AM – Block Island Porgy & Sea Bass trip on the Viking Superstar and the 5AM – Blackfish and Sea Bass trip on the Viking Star are cancelled for tomorrow.

Mon Dec 5- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports good fishing today on the Viking Superstar today. We had a nice mixed bag of Porgies, SeaBass and Cod fish, all different sizes. The Porgies seemed to be more prevalent than they have been lately, definitely a thicker pile. SeaBass fishing was still just as good, just more Porgies in the mix,…
