Fishing Reports

Fri June 30 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a fantastic day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was red hot today, with double headers coming up all around the boat. Blue fishing was excellent today as well, with plenty of  jumbos to pick through. After loading up Porgies we targeted the SeaBass and had more keepers than throwbacks sizing up to 4 lbs. Overall, an excellent day of fishing all around with a mixed selection including a few Fluke as well. The pool winner today went to Cliff Feuron from Elwood, NJ with a 3 lb Porgy. We are sailing again tomorrow (Saturday, June 30th) so come on down while fishing is hot!

Thurs June 29 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports a slower afternoon on the Viking Star. It was a bit of a grind, but there was some action with keeper Fluke, Porgies and Sea Bass. Pool winner was John Dobrowski from Glendale, NY with a 2.8 lb Sea Bass.

Thurs June 29 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports a good day on the Viking Star. The trip started out slow, but we found some Fluke, Sea Bass and Porgies. It turned out to be a good morning. The pool winner was Dylan Azouz from Oceanside, NY with a 6.5 lb Fluke.

Thurs June 29 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a great day on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was excellent. We mostly had large and jumbos and there were plenty of them. We tried out a bunch of spots for Sea Bass only finding a handful of keepers. There have been tons of smaller fish, but plenty of them. Porgies have been mixed in at the Sea Bass grounds. The body of bigger Sea Bass should move in any day. We also had a couple of Bluefish.

Wed June 28 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt J.R. reports a good afternoon of fishing on the Viking Star despite the breezy conditions. We battled the wind a bit but head a nice pick of SeaBass, Porgies, and fluke. Lot of action around the boat as we picked through some smaller SeaBass, but definitely found our way into some large SeaBass and…

Wed June 28 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Porgies seemed to be chewing their heads off today with back to back double headers on most drops, sizing in between medium and jumbo, but more larges than anything. Unfortunately we had to pick through the Porgy bite at the SeaBass grounds with only a handful of keepers. We did manage to boat some Blue fish, a keeper Striped Bass and some Fluke. The pool winner today was Bennie Niranjan from Queens, NY with a jumbo 3.2 lb Porgy. We will definitely be sailing again tomorrow at 5 am (Thursday, June 28th) on our Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Seabass, call or book online to schedule your trip!

Tue June 27 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports pretty good fishing on the Viking Star this afternoon despite the windy conditions. We didn’t get to fish our usual spots, but we did find a good amount of Fluke and Porgies. The pool winner was Kellen Sweeney from Floral Park, NY with a 3 lb Fluke.

Mon June 26 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing on the Viking Starship. The morning started off as a slow pick or Porgies and SeaBass around the Lighthouse, but when conditions were right, we anchored up and fell into some red hot fishing. We had double headers coming up all around the boat with medium to jumbo sized Porgies and some large Knothead Seabass. We even boated some Blue fish and had one keeper Striped Bass. The pool winner today went to Nathaniel Brown from the Bronx with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. We will not be sailing tomorrow (Tuesday, June 26) on our 5am Porgies and SeaBass trip due to poor weather conditions.

Mon June 26- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports a good morning of fishing today on the Viking Star. We had a nice mixed bag of all species seeing keeper Fluke, SeaBass, and Porgies. Rods were bending all over the boat with a few throwbacks, but plenty of keepers overall. We did not do a pool on the boat this morning.

Sun June 25- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a slower beginning to the PM portion of half-day fishing today on the Viking Star.  We did however find a late pick-up with several keeper Fluke and a few massive Porgies in the mix. The first place pool winner went to Andy Britton from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a 3.1 lb Porgy.
