Fri Nov 25 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports fantastic fishing on the Viking Superstar. Sea bass were plentiful, but the Porgies were a bit tough today. All fishing trips are cancelled tomorrow due to gale force winds expected.

Sat Nov 19 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing on the Viking Superstar. We started in the deeper water and had a nice shot of large Sea Bass. On the Porgy drop we found good sizes from larges to jumbo with some Sea Bass mixed in. The last drop had mixed size Sea Bass and some Porgies. Everywhere we tried was good. There were some dogs around, but they didn’t cause much of a problem. We also had some Mackerel. The pool winner was Kevin Zhong from Brooklyn, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. All fishing trips are cancelled due to weather on Sunday, November 20th.
Sat Nov 19 – Blackfish & Sea Bass
Capt JR reports a good day on the Viking Star. We started off the day targeting Sea Bass and found some very good fishing. Lots of big giant knot head Sea Bass coming over the rails for an easy limit. We headed inshore and found a MUCH improved Blackfish bite. The cooler weather has finally started getting the big togs chewing. We had an easy boat limit with some real beauties coming over the rail until we headed home. There was no pool today. All fishing trips are cancelled due to weather on Sunday, November 20th.
Tue Nov 15 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports very good fishing on the Viking Superstar. We had three drops today all lasting about an hour and a half with a nice mix of Porgies & Sea Bass. There were mostly large Porgies with Sea Bass of all sizes with some in the 4 to 5 lb range. Also in the mix were Cod on the larger size today. The pool winner was Nancy from NY with a 3.3 lb Porgy. Unfortunately all fishing is cancelled tomorrow due to the weather.
Sun Nov 13 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports an okay day of fishing today on the Viking Superstar. Fishing conditions weren’t the best with wind, rain, and a rather large leftover ground swell from yesterday’s weather, but we still managed to get some decent fishing in. The bite was a bite off, but we had a good pick of Porgies and SeaBass with smaller sizes then we’ve been seeing recently. The first place pool winner went to Mario Felicisimo from Neptune, NJ with a 2.5 lb Porgy. We will not be sailing tomorrow (Monday, November 14th) at 5 am for the Block Island Porgies and SeaBass.
Sun Nov 13 – Blackfish & Sea Bass
Capt JR reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Star despite the windy conditions. We headed out this morning and found some uncomfortable conditions with wind, rain, and a rather large leftover ground swell from yesterday’s weather. We looked around for some SeaBass that wanted to bite and found just a few early. Fortunately, we hit one drop that was loaded with hungry knot head SeaBass and quickly got a boat limit. The Blackfish grounds started off promising with some very nice keepers coming up right away but the bite kinda dwindled to a pick. However, there was a surprising number of large SeaBass that have seemed to repopulate the inshore Blackfish grounds. The Black fish pool winner went to Anastasios Sopiling from Jamaica, NY with a 5.6 lb fish. We had a tie for our SeaBass…
Fri Nov 11 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports really good fishing today on the Viking Superstar. We started the morning off fishing in the deeper water targeting the SeaBass. We had a good shot first thing with mostly keeper sized SeaBass. We then worked our way into some shallower water where we had excellent Porgy fishing. There was plenty of Porgy action ranging from large to jumbo size. After getting a good pile in there, we ventured out into about 100 feet of water where we had a great mix of both SeaBass and Porgies in the large size. The first place pool winner went to Hernu Xue from Staten Island with a 3.3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Claude Smith with a 5 lb SeaBass. We will not be sailing on the 5am Block Island Porgies and SeaBass trip tomorrow (Saturday,…
