Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Fishing Reports

Sun Oct 9 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports slow day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Once again it was a battle between the wind and tide, but managed to get a good mixed bag of fish for everyone to go home with. We had a nice range of SeaBass up to 3lbs and some large sized SeaBass. The pool winner went to Elias Pantozopoulus from the Bronx, NY with a 3.2 lb SeaBass. We are cancelled for the 8AM half day fishing tomorrow and will try to get out in the afternoon.

Sun Oct 9- Viking Starlite Full Day Private Charter

Capt Steven Sr. reports a decent day of fishing today on our private charter on the Viking Starlite. The conditions made for a more difficult day of fishing as we were battling the Full Moon tide and the strong wind. The did manage a steady pick of Porgies and SeaBass with fish at every drop. Everyone ended the day with a nice medley of fish to bring home for dinner.

Sun Oct 9 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an okay day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. The full moon tide mixed with the West- North- West wind made for more difficult fishing off of Block Island. The pick was slow, but we managed to get a handful of keeper SeaBass and Porgies for every angler. We did see…

Sat Oct 8 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports a much improved afternoon on the Viking Star. There was a lot of action with Sea Bass and everyone had a few keepers. We also had a few Porgies, Weakfish and Chub Mackerel. The pool winner was Jason Flowers from Massapequa, NY with a 4.5 lb Sea Bass.

Sat Oct 8 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a slow day on the Viking Starship. We encountered a lot of tide with the full moon and dirty water left over from the blow, so it was a slow pick of smaller Porgies and Sea Bass with a handful of good ones thrown in. There were also plenty of mackerel and…

Fri Oct 7- Night Striped Bass

Captain JR reports that last night’s Striped Bass Trip started off  with some great action catching fish on every drift. While some of the fish landed were too big and had to be returned unharmed, we did land some nice keepers. The action continued until we lost the tide and then it slowed down. The…

Fri Oct 7 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an interesting day of fishing on the Viking Starship. There was a little of everything biting today, but the bite was a bit off as the water was still turned up from the aftermath of the storm. We had a slow pick of mixed sized Porgies and a handful of keeper sized SeaBass. Everyone seemed to have a nice bucket of Porgies and 3 or 4 keeper SeaBass. We even had some Fluke today up to 6 lbs, as well as plenty of Mackerell and we did see our first appearance from the Winter Dog Fish. The first place pool winner went to Gun Soo Youn from Closter, NJ with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. Tomorrow’s trip (Saturday, October 8th) is almost sold out, so make sure to make a reservation while you can.

Capt Dave reports a great day on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing started out a bit slow on the first few drops, but then it was on! The Porgies were hungry!! We had them chewing even in the deep and they were BIG! The Sea Bass didn’t get a chance to bite the hooks much today, but we did have some up to 4 lbs. The first place pool winner was Abel Ventura from El Salvador with a 3 1/4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Duke Brown from Brooklyn, NY with a massive Sea Bass over 4 lbs. Unfortunately all fishing trips are cancelled Saturday, Oct 1st through Tuesday Oct 4th due to the windy conditions expected. We are hoping to get back out there Wed Oct 5th.

Thur Sept 29 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an okay day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Conditions were difficult today as we were fighting a rough North East wind. The Porgy bite was still pretty good despite the conditions, we found Porgies everywhere we went just a slow bite. The SeaBass bite did take a hit today, but me managed to get into a small pile as continued to work our way into deeper water. Everyone seemed to have 3-4 decent keepers, but Porgies was the main catch today. We did have a few Cod fish in the mix as well as some Mackerell. We only had one pool on the boat today and it wen tot Jack Alboher from Queens, NY with a whopping 4 lb Porgy. We will be going out tomorrow (Friday, October 30th) for the 5AM- Block Island Porgies…
