Fri Nov 13 – Block Island SeaBass/Blackfish/Cod

Capt Steven Jr reports that despite the wet and windy conditions we had a great day of fishing on the Viking Fivestar. We fished close to the island and had excellent Blackfishing with a steady pick of nice Seabass in the mix. All but a couple of guys had their tog limit and everyone had their Seabass limit. Fri Nov 13 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports very good fishing on the Viking Starship. The weather was tough, but we were rewarded with good sized Porgies and plenty of SeaBass. There were fewer Cod than we have been seeing. The pool winner was Dejun Liu with a 3 lb Porgy. The trip is sold out tomorrow. There is some space left on Sunday. Please give us a call 631-668-5700 or book online at vikingfleet.com

Wed Nov 11 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a day of very good fishing on the Viking Star. We had plenty of really nice size Porgies as well as a lot of quality sized Sea Bass mixed in. We did not see as many Cod as we have been but ended the day with 4 nice keepers. The steady bite of Porgies and Sea Bass continued all day resulting in a good day being had by all. Today’s first place pool was won by Larry Fitzpatrick of Queens NY with a 3.5 lb Porgy. We are staying at the dock for maintenance tomorrow but will be back at it Friday. We sail daily at 5am and the fare is $120. Come fill up your freezers while fishing remains hot. Happy Veteran’s Day!

Tue Nov 10 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports very good fishing on the Viking Starship. Today the SeaBass were biting their heads off! They were nice sized and plenty of them. We had mostly keepers with very few throw backs. After we got our fill we looked around for Porgies and found them too! Most were in the medium to large range, not a lot of jumbos. There was also a handful of Cod and 1 big Bonita. The first place pool winner was James Hood from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Keri Tyson from Elkton, MD with a 12 lb Bonita.

Wed Nov, 11 The Block Island Porgy & SeaBass Trip is sailing at 5AM CANCELLED 5AM – Local Cod & SeaBass 5AM – Ultra LTD Blackfish & SeaBass 5AM – 30 to 50 Mile Wreck

Mon Nov 9 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports excellent Porgy fishing on the Viking Starship. We went straight to the deep water today and the Porgies were chewing! They were everywhere!! Better than we have seen in days. We had mostly mediums to large and few jumbos. It was harder to get to the SeaBass, but everyone managed their limit. We also had about 20 Cod that were quality fish  in the 8 to 15 lb range. The first place pool winner was Chris Conway from Queens with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Elroy Tonge from the Bronx with a 15 lb Cod.

Sun Nov 8 – Ultra Ltd Blackfish and Sea Bass

Capt Steven Sr reports a great day of fishing on the Viking Starlite. It was a beautiful day on the water and an excellent day of fishing. The first 2 drops limits on Blackfish were made around the boat and it was time to go catch some Knothead Sea Bass. All the fish were nice size and then we decided to make one more surprise drop. The fishing was all out phenomenal! Jumbo Sea Bass, a half dozen Cod or more and nice sized Porgies mixed in. First place in the SeaBass pool went to Rafael Genado of Manhattan, NY with a 4.2 lber.  Junior Veloz of the Bronx, NY won the Blackfish pool with a 7.9 lb fish. Sun Nov 8 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. We started out the day in shallower water by Block Island, but the conditions were not optimal. The drift was a little fast and a little tangley. We moved a little offshore and on the first drop the fishing improved significantly. Medium sized Porgies and a good mix of Sea Bass and Cod. We then moved a little farther offshore and the fishing was excellent! Large Porgies, large Sea Bass and more Cod. First place in the pool went to Luis Ramirez from New Jersey with a 2.5 lb Porgy. Edible pool winner was Ezequieh Bautista- Murrieta of Corona, NY with an 11 lb Cod.  

Sun Nov 8 – Local Cod and Sea Bass

Capt JR reports an exceptional day on the Viking Star. Excellent Sea Bass fishing from start to finish. Nonstop action with jumbo Knotheads flying over the rail. We also caught Cod on every drop. Several of the Cod were significantly larger than the ones we had been catching earlier in the season. The Cod pool went to Franklin Reyes of Manhattan, NY with a 13.1 lber. The SeaBass pool went to Danny Ko of Brooklyn NY with 5.2 lber.  

Sat Nov 7 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was great inside Block Island in the shallow water. We spent the morning drifting around catching medium to large Porgies with some SeaBass in the mix. After that we headed offshore and found Trophy SeaBass! The biggest kind along with mixed size Porgies and a handful of Cod mixed in. The first place pool winner was Luis Runa from NJ with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Luis Inga from Queens with a 12 lb Cod.
