Sat Oct 31 – Ultra LTD Blackfish and Sea Bass
Capt Steven Sr reports rough conditions to start the day, but it turned out to be an absolutely PHENOMENAL day on the Viking Starlite. We picked away at the Blackfish early, then we moved to a Seabass spot. We ended up with a Slammer Day of fish flying over the rail!! There were also about 5 Cod caught today. The Blackfish pool was by Nigel Crawford with an 8.3 lber. The SeaBass pool was won by Mark Perry with a 4.7 lber. This trip is CANCELLED for tomorrow.
Sat Oct 31- Local Cod & SeaBass
Full report to follow. First place pool winner was Pelton Geter from N. Babylon, NY with a 4.5 lb SeaBass. Second place pool winner was Carlos Benitez with a 4.25 lb SeaBass with a 4.25 lb SeaBass. This trip is CANCELLED for tomorrow!
Sat Oct 31 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing on the Viking Starship. We started in the shallow water up close to Block Island and picked away at Porgies and SeaBass. We had dogfish, but they slowed down after awhile. Once we finished there we moved to the deeper water and found bigger SeaBass and nice size Porgies. There were also about a dozen Cod up to 15 pounds. The first place pool winner was Barry Cameron from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Barry Wauchope from Babylon, NY with a 12 lb Cod.
Thurs Oct 29 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing on the Viking Starship. It was quieter than we have been seeing in the shallow water by Block Island. Resulting in a slow pick of mostly Porgies. It was better offshore, but still a slow pick of nice size SeaBass and a handful of Porgies. The dogfish were there again, but it was manageable. The pool winner was John Pratt from the Bronx with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The Block Island Porgy & Seabass trip is CANCELLED for tomorrow, Friday Oct 30th.
Wed Oct 28 – 30 to 50 Mile Wreck Trip
Capt Steven Jr reports slammer fishing on the Viking Fivestar. We had an easy limit of XXXL Seabass and bunch of healthy Cod on the offshore wrecks. Everyone on the boat had at least 3 Cod and high hook was Billy Combs with 10 keeper Cod! Lot of Seabass around 5 lbs or better, one basket on board was over flowing with only 12 Seabass in it. There were also a bunch of big king Ling and couple Scup in the mix as well.
Wed Oct 28- Local Cod and Sea Bass
Capt JR reports that we had a very good day on the Viking Star. Excellent sea bass CATCHING all day long including some real giant Fall knotheads. We also had a good showing of COD. We had COD on every drop today. All around a great day. Today’s Cod pool was won by Mike Pellegrino…
Wed Oct 28 – Ultra LTD Blackfish and Sea Bass

Wed Oct 28- Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports that we did very well today on the Viking Starship. We started the day off with a very fast drift and good bite of mostly Porgies. The Porgies we landed were all medium to large in size. When we had enough at that spot we headed off shore a bit for the Sea Bass. There we had a really nice mix of Sea Bass and Porgies to end the day. A couple of guys had Triggerfish onboard today also. First place in today’s pool went to Ronal Cruz of Pleasantville, NJ who landed a nice 3lb Porgy. Hugh Beason of the Bronx caught himself a 4lb Sea Bass to take the edible pool.
Tue Oct 27 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports an excellent day of Porgy fishing on the Viking Starship. The best fishing was by Block Island in the shallow water. Porgies were great and we had some SeaBass mixed in. We also looked offshore for some SeaBass. Everyone had some, but the dogfish took over. We moved back inshore and drifted again and had mostly Big Porgies. There were also a couple of Triggerfish caught. The pool winner was Colin Kelsey from NYC with a Jumbo 3.4 lb Porgy.
Mon Oct 26 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports fine fishing on the Viking Starship. We started inshore at Block Island in the shallow water Porgy fishing. The water was calm and we had plenty of mostly Large Porgies. When we were done there we headed back to Montauk and hit a SeaBass spot. It was rough but they bit well with pretty much everyone getting their limit. The pool winner was Tejada Martin from the Bronx with a 3.5 lb Jumbo Porgy.
