Sun Oct 25 -Ultra LTD Blackfish and Sea Bass
Captain JR reports tough conditions to start the day on the Viking Starlite. We had a slow steady pick of fish once conditions improved later in the morning. Plenty of Blackfish over the rails, but a lot of shorts. We wound up with some keeper Blackfish, some Cod and a few nice sized Knothead Sea Bass. We had a freshwater angler, Scott Loyer, of Monroe NY win the Sea Bass pool with a 3.8 lb fish that he caught on a piece of Mackerel he had caught earlier. Dennis Kippel of West Islip, NY won the Blackfish pool with a 7.4 lber. Wednesday Oct. 28 and Sat. Oct 31 trips are sold out, but there are still some spots left for Fri Oct 30 and Sun Nov 1st.
Sun Oct 25 – Local Cod and Sea Bass
Capt Derek reports a good day of fishing on the Viking Star. We had a bit of a rough start with more wind than expected. As the weather improved, the bite surprisingly slowed a bit, but everybody on board had plenty of fish to take home. Nice size Knothead Sea Bass and a few keeper Cod. First place in the Cod pool went to Brian Saunders of Queens, NY with a 10.5 lber. First place in the Sea Bass pool went to Peter Chiu of Briarwood, NY with a 4.75 lber. Sun Oct 25 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a good trip on the Viking Starship. The wind made for a tough start. We anchored up and had a nice steady pick of nice size Porgies. Once the wind dropped off we headed back to a nice spot in the shallows where we had a number of good drifts. Not as many Sea Bass as we have been seeing but good sized Porgies, some large Bluefish, a few Triggerfish, some Striped Bass and some keeper Cod. Ricardo Cortez of Staten Island, NY won first place in the pool with 2.9 lb Porgy. The edible pool went to Bryan Savell of Newark, NJ with a 12 lb Striped Bass.

Sat Oct 24 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We had Excellent Jumbo Porgy fishing inside by Block Island to start the day. After we filled up there we went offshore in search of SeaBass. It was much slower than we have been seeing. We also had a handful of keeper Cod, some Porgies and Big Bluefish. The first place pool winner was Mina Hanna from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.1 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Kyam Jackson from Jamaica, NY with an 8 lb Bluefish.
Sat Oct 24 – Local Cod & SeaBass
Capt Derek reports a good trip on the Viking Star. The morning started off slow with no drift, but we were able to pick off a couple nice Seabass. The final move was a success, with a nice pick of Jumbo Seabass and 20 or so Cod. Everyone ended the day with their limit of Seabass, a few larger Scup and if lucky enough even a Cod or two. The Cod Pool went to Beris Nembhard from Bronx, NY with a 10 lber. The SeaBass pool winner had a 3.5 lb fish. There were a handful of Cod over 10 lbs that weren’t in the pool.
Sat Oct 24 – Ultra Ltd Blackfish & Sea Bass
Capt JR reports a great trip on the Viking Starlite today. The morning had a lot of Blackfish action but unfortunately the size was a bit of an issue. So we headed to deeper water and caught a multitude of Jumbo Sea Bass. Several of the deeper drops also yielded some beautiful Codfish. The First Place pool winner was Ricky Morel from Patterson, NJ with a 7 lb Blackfish. The Edible Pool winner was Fernando Flores from Brooklyn, NY with a 4 lb SeaBass.
Fri Oct 23 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We had good drifting conditions close to Block Island and the Porgy bite was good. After that we headed offshore looking for SeaBass. There were nice size SeaBass there along with Medium Porgies and a few Cod. The first place pool winner was Carlos Marte from Bayshore, Long Island with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Duke Brown with an 11 lb Cod.
Fri Oct 23 – Ultra LTD Blackfish & Sea Bass
Capt JR reports a fair day on the Viking Starlite. Tough conditions in the morning did not help. We did manage to catch some nice Blackfish with some anglers getting their limit. We stopped on the way home and caught some really nice Sea Bass to add to our catch. Not a bad day! Pool winners to follow.
