Thurs Sept 3 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a slower day of fishing. The fish seemed to be a little off the bite today because of the full moon, but we prevailed and manged to get a good catch. We lucked out by the lighthouse with good conditions as well as the tide being juuuussst right for Porgy fishing. We caught nice size Porgies there, ranging from medium to large. Once we were satisfied with our Porgies we decided to go Sea Bassing. We had a good pick of Sea Bass, had to weave through the small ones, but we ended up getting some nice size keepers. Thurs Sept 3 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We caught a mixed bag of Porgies, Sea Bass and Fluke. The first place pool winner was Julian Romo from Hoboken, NJ with a 2 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Nash Lysogorski from Southampton, NY with a 2 lb SeaBass.
Wed Sept 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Chris reports good fishing on the Viking Star. Windy weather forced us to fish ultra local. Short fluke started us off and quickly ended, setting up a very good afternoon of Seabass. Pool winner to follow.
Wed Sept 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt. Chris reports a good morning despite the rough weather. We managed a fair morning. Each spot was hit or miss, but those that produced had plenty. We caught Sea Bass, 6 keeper Fluke, and some Porgies as well. The pool winner was Douglas Albert from Lindenhurst, NY, with a 4.5 lb Sea Bass. The keeper Flukes that were caught were not in the pool.
Wed Sept. 2 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Capt. Dave reports a good day of fishing despite the rough conditions. We were able to bring in a great catch of Porgies, ranging from med-larg. We went offshore and anchored up to go for Sea Bass. While there we had plenty of action with a good pick of small to med. size Sea Bass. Everyone went home with their limit or close to it, with plenty of Porgies, Sea Bass, and some Mackerel. The pool winner was Vasilios Papagiannis from High Land Park, NY, with a 3.5 lb Porgy.
Tue Sept 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Chris reports extremely windy conditions on the Viking Star. We were forced to fish the North areas. Everyone worked hard to scrape together some nice Seabass and a some Porgies, but mostly shorts. The first place pool winner was Michael Nadeau from Rocky Point, NY with a 3 lb SeaBass. The second place pool winner was Peter Franzeskos from Chappaqua, NY with a 2.8 lb SeaBass.
Tue Sept 1 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Star despite the tough conditions. We first went to the SeaBass grounds and had great action. There were a lot of smalls, but we caught plenty of keepers with some Porgies mixed in. We finished up at the lighthouse and picked away at nice Large Porgies with some Jumbos mixed in. All in all it was a good day. The pool winner was Ron Lawyer with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy.
Tues Sept 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Chris reports a good trip this morning on the Viking Star. We had mainly Sea Bass as the weather prevented us from staying off the point. We ground it out to the North and eventually put a catch together of Sea Bass and Porgies and a few short Fluke were seen as well. There was no pool today.
Mon Aug 31 – 1/2 Day PM
Capt JR reports another great trip this afternoon on the Viking Star. All anglers had full buckets of Sea Bass and Porgies. We did capture a few really nice fluke as well.
Mon Aug 31 – Schedule Update
Space has opened up on the Viking Fivestar trip that was rescheduled from Tuesday Sept 1 to Wednesday Sept 2. It will now be a 36 Hour Trip for Tuna, Sword, Big Eye…….. Whatever we can find out there! If you haven’t been able to get on one of the Fivestar Offshore Trips here is your opportunity!
