Fishing Reports

Capt Derek reports we stayed on the north side for the afternoon because of the wind and tide. Fishing definitely was not as active as this morning, but we still had action with small Fluke, Porgies and some Sea Bass. We ground it out and were able to get some keeper Fluke out of it though. Pool winners were Nicolette Kane from New York City with a 4.5 lb Fluke and in second was Oliver Brooks from Brooklyn, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.

Captain Dave report a great day of fishing today. They started the day heading west up the beach and had excellent fishing. Then they spent the rest of the day drifting off the Lighthouse and had a slow steady pick of Jumbo and large Porgies. They also had Bluefish, Striped Bass and tons of Sea Bass (which they can’t keep until Tuesday). The pool winner was Connel of Mount Vernon NY with a 3lb porgy. The edible pool goes to our very loyal customer Kim Bennett of Bristol PA with a 6lb Bluefish.

  Captain Derek reports that the trip started off decent with some short fluke, Bluefish and short Striped Bass. We were able to get a keeper out of it with some Scup and nice Sea bass (that finally opens Tuesday.) We made a move a little down the beach and picked away on some nice size Porgies and more short Fluke. Finally near the end of the trip we got a nice flurry of keeper fluke, which was great to see especially with the water warming up. First place pool was Ana Teixeira from East Meadow, Ny with a 5.5 lb Fluke. Second place was Jose from South Setauket, NY with a Bluefish weighing in around 6 pounds. Like Comment

Capt Steven Jr reports great fishing to start the trip on the jigs with Bass and Blues and some jumbo Scup flying over the rails! Most of the Bass were outside of the new slot size limit, but about half the boat got a keeper Bass and limits of Blues for almost everyone. After the sunset we switched over to eels and the action shut right down. We only managed a couple more fish for the night. We did not have a pool.

Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. We started out anchoring up west of the lighthouse. Fishing was great and it made the day! On the way back we made a stop by the lighthouse. It was a bit slow, but the quality was there with really good size Porgies. The pool winner was Nate Marner from Roslyn, NY with a 2.81 lb Porgy.

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We spent most of our time drifting by the lighthouse where we had a mix of everything! There was a ton of bait and we saw Jumbo Porgies, Fluke, Striped Bass – 3 Keepers, Bluefish and Sea Bass that were released unharmed. The first place pool winner was Harold Cobin from Merrick, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Darrel Greenwood from Norfolk, VA with a 5 lb Bluefish. Capt Derek reports that we started off the afternoon with plenty of action, but the wind was against the tide. We gave it a little time and we were able to manage a couple keepers along with some shorts. After that we tried to go to an area where the tide wouldn’t be as bad, but there were only shorts and some nice big Seabass to be caught. Fishing was definitely tougher than the morning but there was plenty of life around. The pool was won by Vinny Garidas from Westbury,  NY with a 6.5lb Fluke.

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. The east wind had the Porgies off the bite resulting in a slow pick, but the fish were big. Some anglers retained their limit. We also had a few Bluefish. The pool was a tie between Charles Duhaney from Bronx, NY and Medlin Jackson from Brooklyn, NY with 3 lb Porgies. Capt Derek reports that we started off the morning great on the Viking Star. We had two nice fluke right away and thought it was going to be a great bite. Unfortunately, we had a lot of shorts and some Seabass. We made a little move and found jumbo Seabass that we can’t keep until June 23rd when the season opens, but it was nice to see plenty around. We got a couple more keepers and still had plenty of shorts. Hopefully the bigger Fluke start to move in soon. The pool winner was Victoria Knox from Boston, MA With a 4.5lb Fluke. Honorable mention goes to Jack Hammel with a 7lb Fluke.

Capt Derek reports that we started off the afternoon where fishing was decent in the morning. We only caught some short Fluke, a couple Scup, and some Seabass that were all released. We made a move to the lighthouse and fishing wasn’t much better. The day ended with a couple jumbo Scup and a 7.6lb Fluke caught by Robert Caffiero.
