Fri Aug 23 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Fri Aug 23 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Stariper. We started out with tough conditions and a fast drift from the wind and tide. We then headed down the beach and the Porgy fishing was great! We made one offshore drop and found SeaBass, big Porgies, big Fluke, Trigger fish, and Mackerel. The pool winner was L. Patterson from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.6 lb Scup.

Thurs Aug 22 -Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass

Captain Dave reports a fine day of fishing after a rough start today on the Viking Stariper. A combination of wind and tide and a little leftover swell from last night made for some tough conditions near the Montauk Lighthouse early this morning. We moved to drift along the beach and found a load of really nice large to Jumbo Porgies. Later on we moved again to the East to load up on some excellent Sea Bass. We had to pick through a mix of shorts and some additional Porgies, but wound up with a number of Sea Bass in the the 5 pound range. All our anglers went home with plenty of fish. The pool winner today was Chris Battaglia of Brooklyn with a 3.0 pound Scup.
