Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a hard wind with a strong tide, but we still managed a decent catch. We had a pick of nice sized porgies and we also had a couple cod in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Roy Tyrell of Paterson, NJ with a 3lb porgy.

Block Island Jumbo Porgies Capt Dave reports tougher fishing today with the wind and tide. We anchored and had a mix of porgies, bluefish, cod and one keeper striped bass. The first place pool winner was Daris Clark from Bayshore, NY with a 3.7 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Spoony from Irvington, NJ with a 12 lb bluefish.

Tuesday Oct 18

Viking FiveStar Striped Bass Charter We had a good afternoon jigging around the point today. We ended up 4 keeper bass and 7 shorts along with around 6 false albacore and a couple sea bass and porgies. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a really good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a nice pile of porgies and a few striped bass in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Ernest Wilson of Brooklyn with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Mike Smith of Hollis with an 11lb striped bass.

Block Island Porgies Capt Steven Jr reports good porgy fishing today. It started off slow with the strong full moon tide. Once the drift slowed down the fishing improved and everyone filled their coolers. The first place pool winner was Lee Hung from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.8 lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Mike Washington from Brentwood, NY with a 3 lb porgy. 2 Night Tuna Ultra Limited – Fri Oct 14th to Sun Oct 16th Capt Jerry reports that fishing was still slow, but the weather was great until the ride home. We had a lot of mahi-mahi, 1 yellowfin tuna, 1 swordfish and 7 short swords. The first place pool winner was John Kenney from Medfield, MA with a 30 lb yellowfin. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a tough day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. It was a windy day with the strong moon tide, but we still managed a decent catch. We had some porgies and a handful of cod. The first place pool winners were a tie- Spiro Cano of College Point and Cesar Morocho of Spring Valley both with 3lb porgies, and in second place was Alrick Walters of Brooklyn with a 10lb cod. 1/2 Day Mixed Bag-AM Capt Steven Sr reports okay fishing with bumpy conditions out there this morning. We had a lot of action with a bunch of shorts in the mix. The pool winner was JoAnn Glaessgen from Massapequa, NY with a 3.1 lb sea bass.

Saturday Oct 15

Night Striped Bass Capt Carl reports another very slow night of bass fishing. There are some fish around but they are only eating during the day and are off the night feed. Not even the full moon turned them on. We did catch 1 big 35 lb bass, but that was it. We are concluding our 2016 Night Bass season and Capt Carl is pleased to say that 2016 was one of the most consistent and productive years we have seen in many many years on our 6 hour and 7 hour trips. We will be fishing for cod, sea bass, porgies and blackfish for the remainder of this year and we look forward to seeing everyone again! Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a good start to every drift, with nice big fishing coming over the rails all day. We had porgies, sea bass and 1 keeper striped bass. Today’s pool winner was Winston Strachan of Brooklyn with a 4.2lb porgy. 2 Night Tuna Ultra Limited – Tue Oct 11 to Thurs Oct 13 Capt Jerry reports that fishing was slow, but we had a lot of mahi-mahi. We also had 1 swordfish, a few albacore, and 1 yellowfin tuna and we lost a few fish. The winner of both pools was Bill Beacher from Danbury, CT with an 80 lb yellowfin and a 20 lb mahi-mahi. Night Striped Bass Charter – Viking Starship Capt Carl reports that we had a charter on the Viking Starship last night for striped bass and that is was another very rough night. We had two keepers that were 28 inches on the nose, 3 shorts and 5 bluefish. It seems the night bite is over for the year, but we will give it another shot tonight maybe, and definitely Saturday night. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Seabass Capt Dave reports a decent day of fishing on the Viking Starship. We had mixed sized porgies and sea bass today. We also had a couple of bluefish. The pool winner of both pools was Mike Emmanouilidis from Union, NJ with a 4.5 lb porgy.

Tuesday Oct 11

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today. We had a nice shot of big fish first thing in the morning with a mix of both porgies and sea bass. It slowed a little bit in the afternoon, so we looked around and found another shot of mixed size porgies, sea bass, a handful of cod and 1 striped bass. Today’s first place pool winner was Mounir Mansour of College Pt with a 4lb porgy and in second place was Carlos Meneses of Bayshore with a 15lb striped bass.
