Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports excellent fishing today on the Viking Star. We had mixed size fish with action from start to finish. We also had nice sea bass which were returned unharmed. Tomorrow, Monday June 27th is the opening day for sea bass! The first place pool winner was Spiro Cano from College Point, NY with a 3.2lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Angel Hernandez from Brooklyn, NY with a 5lb bluefish. 1/2 Day-AM Captain Steven Jr reports okay fishing with a slow start, but it got better as the tide got going. The pool winner was Robert Ennis from New York, NY with a 4.4lb fluke. 1/2 Day-PM Captain Steven Jr reports a much improved afternoon. They had good conditions with plenty of action. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a fantastic morning of fishing with really nice quality big fish. We also had some fluke, blues and sea bass – all released unharmed. Sea bass will open this Monday. We strongly suggest making reservations. Day One started in the deep and saw plenty of solid action with the tiles for most of the day. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Carl reports an excellent afternoon of fluke fishing. Everyone onboard caught at least 1 keeper fluke and a few porgies. We also had some sea bass that were all released unharmed. The pool winner was John Banzer of Centerach with a nice 5.1lb fluke. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports excellent fishing with nice size fish. We also had fluke, bluefish and throw back seabass. Remember that Sea Bass season opens this coming Monday June 27th! The pool winner was Peter Frantzeskos from Chappaqua, NY with a 3.5lb porgy.

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports that we anchored up and had plenty of action from start to finish. It was a total bail job of mostly jumbo porgies. The pool winner was Bobby Bang from Brooklyn, NY with a 4lb porgy.
Tues June 21st
Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reported a tough start to the day of fishing aboard the Viking Star. Fishing was very difficult in the morning with almost no bites during the lightning. The wind also made things very slow, however there was a few big catches. After the storm and wind cleared there was a much better pick of mixed size fish as the smaller fish moved back in, and limits were reached all round. There was lots bluefish and fluke caught as well as some sea-bass which were returned unharmed. Today’s joint first place pool winners were Cheong from New Hyde Park NY and Rob Fishman from Hollywood, California each with 3.5lb Porgies. Cheong also won second pkace with a 5lb fluke.

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports excellent fishing today. We had a mix of smaller and some large fish today. We also had some keeper striped bass and fluke today. We also had some sea bass that were returned. The first place pool winner was James Hom from Manhattan with a 4lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Juan Morales from New Brunswick, NJ with a 15lb striped bass.

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a slow pick of mixed porgies early on. When we moved to the lighthouse we had a good pick of mostly large porgies. We also had a couple of keeper fluke and blues mixed in, along with throw back sea bass. Half Day Fluke AM Captain Carl reports an excellent day of fluke fishing this morning aboard the Viking Stariper! We had lots of BIG keepers along with some porgies in the mix. Honorable mention goes out to Richard Ottosow of Fountain Hills AZ with a nice 10lb 8oz fluke! Our pool winner today was Christine Dassler with a 6lb fluke. Half Day Fluke AM Captain Carl reports an excellent day of fishing aboard the Viking Stariper. There was plenty of keeper flukes and porgies caught as well as some good sized sea bass, which were all returned unharmed. During this action packed day of fishing our pool winner was David Bonoe of Massapeova Park, NY with a 5.25 lb fluke. We anchored up this morning with lots of action with mixed sized porgies, then we went looking for the big ones and we found them drifting by the lighthouse! We also had a few fluke in the mix.
