Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Sat Nov 30 – Night Squid Fishing

Captain Carl reports that the weatherman got it wrong last night. The wind was blowing hard from the NW, making very uncomfortable and unpleasant conditions. Yes, we did still catch some squid, but we had to call the trip early and give everyone credit towards future fishing trips. Tonight has the same weather forecast up, so we will not be sailing. There are still millions of Squid out here in Montauk, and we will sail again on the next good weather night. We will post our next trip as soon as we know!

Sat Nov 30 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship despite the weather. We had tough wind conditions and the bite was off. It was hard to feel them biting, but what we did catch was very good size. We also had about a dozen Cod up to 12 lbs. The first place pool winner was Benny Basurto from Staten Island with a 2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Miguel Atens with a 12 lb Cod. We are not sailing tomorrow due to the wind conditions expected. We will be back at it Monday at 5AM and the weather forecast looks beautiful!

Fri Nov 29 – Squid Fishing

Capt Joe reports a consistent squid pick last night. A lot of bigger sized tubes coming up with a good showing of mackerel making their way into the buckets. The tough weather made it difficult for some anglers to stick it out at the rail but those who did were rewarded with sea krakens. We…

Tue Nov 26 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a good day of fishing on the mighty Viking Star. The weather was a little crappy but we found plenty of big Sea Bass waiting for us at Coxes Ledge. Everyone had no problem getting their limit of knot heads and we also had a few very healthy Cod in the mix. Definitely not a bad day of catching. We are sailing tomorrow departing at 5AM for Blackfish & Sea Bass on the Viking Star, Porgies & Sea Bass on the Viking Starship. There are two spots left on the Viking Fivestar for a 30 to 50 Mile Wreck trip that departs at 4AM – You will have to book online to reserve a spot – https://vikingfleet.com/fishing-trips/viking-fivestar-fishing-charters/ Cod Pool Winner – 6 lbs – Safet Kovacevic from Staten Island, NY Sea Bass Pool Winner – 4 lbs…

Mon Nov 25 – Squid Fishing

Capt Carl reports a Solid Night on the Squid grounds yet again! We picked away all night, with some flurries of good action and GIANT KRAKEN SIZE MONTAUK SQUID! There were also some lulls in the action, but then it would pick right back up. We also saw about a dozen whiting! Looking ahead, Friday…

Fri Nov 22 – Squid Fishing

Capt Joe reports a slow but steady pick on the Starlite. It was definitely better for some than others last night with a few big ones in the mix. We are still seeing life  out there, so we will be giving it another shot Monday night with the nice weather forecasted. There are still Montauk…

Wed Nov 20 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. There was a good shot of Porgies and Sea Bass first thing, then the slack water gave us a slow pick of mostly Porgies. The flood tide picked up and everything started biting well again. We also had  about a dozen Cod. Today we had good…
