Fri Sept 10 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a great day on the Viking Starship! After trying a little local fishing we headed up close to Block Island where fishing was Red Hot with an excellent Porgy bite. We left them biting and headed south of the island looking for SeaBass. We made two drops and had a nice mix of Large and Jumbo Porgies and found a bunch of SeaBass in the deeper water. The pool winner was Lionel Victor from Deer Park, NY with a 3 lb Porgy.

Tue Sept 7 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. To start we tried the shallow water closer to Block Island. It was better Porgy fishing than we have been seeing with mostly Large fish and some Mediums. Once the tide got running it slowed down, so we went off to the deep. Once the strong tide and wind eased off it took a bit of plugging away, but we got our limits of SeaBass with some Real Jumbo Porgies in the mix! Gim Yee from NYC was the pool winner with a 3.1 lb Porgy.

By the end of the trip there doubleheaders flying over the rails all around the boat. We ended up with a nice catch of big Sea Bass, Porgies and even a couple short Fluke which were thrown back unharmed. There was no pool on the boat for the trip. This was the last day for the 3/4 Day trip. Thanks for joining us this season! We will be continuing the 1/2 Day Fishing trip through Columbus Day on the Viking Star. Lookout for the Blackfish and SeaBass trips coming in October on the Viking Starlite.

Sun Sept 5 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We had tougher conditions today with the wind, so we drifted to the east between the lighthouse and Block Island. There was also had a nice catch of Fluke and about a 1/2 dozen Cod. The first place pool winner was Rafael Ramirez from Manhattan, NY with a 2 lb Porgy.
