Capt Dave reports an okay evening on the Viking Star for our first jigging trip. We started out down the beach since it was rough at the lighthouse with wind against tide. We anchored and picked away at a mixed bag of Porgies and SeaBass.

Sat July 11 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day despite leftover conditions from the tropical storm on the Viking Starship. We headed straight to where we found them yesterday, but there were a ton of dogfish and the water was dirty. So we headed not to far offshore and found a nice mixed bag of Big Porgies and SeaBass. We then went a bit further and found Nice Big SeaBass and some more Jumbo Porgies. You had to pick through the small SeaBass though. There were also Mackerel everywhere and a Blowfish. It started off slow, but we put it together by the end. The first place pool winner was Alexander Castillo from Liberty, NY with a 3.41 Jumbo Scup. The edible pool winner was Santos Diaz from Philadelphia, PA.

Sat July 11- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a slow morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We still had quite a bit of wind left over from yesterday’s storm which made for difficult drifting conditions. Still we ended up with a catch of Sea Bass and Porgies. The pool winner was Angelo Demetroulakous from Brooklyn NY, with a 6.9 lb Fluke.

Fri July 10 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports another great day on the Viking Starship. We started out drifting at the lighthouse finding quality Porgies. When the tide changed we had a lot of small SeaBass, but everyone was able to pick through them a get a couple keepers. We headed down the beach after that and it was another Porgy Bail Job! It was a tie for first place with 2 1/2 lb Porgies for Juan and Al from Queens. The edible pool winner was Alvin from Virginia with a 3 lb SeaBass.

Thurs July 9 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a great day on the Viking Starship. It was a total bail job on the Porgies. They were so thick it was hard to get to the SeaBass, but by the end it did ease up and we were able to get through to some Jumbos. The pool winner was Alberto Rivera from Bronx, NY with a 3.21 lb Porgy.
