Wed Nov 20 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports very decent fishing on the Viking Starship. We saw more Porgies than we have been seeing lately. There were plenty of SeaBass up to the 4 lb range and everyone had their limit. We fished deeper water today so they were a nicer quality fish. We also had about 10 Cod up to 16 lbs. Unfortunately that angler was not in the pool! The first place pool winner was Randy Cooper from Hanover, NJ with a 2.6 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Yen Ping Chang from NYC with a 13 lb Cod.
Tue Nov 19 – Block Island Cod/SeaBass/Blackfish Private Charter
We had James Hom and company out on the Viking Fivestar and put together a nice catch for the day. The Blackfishing was slow with a big left over ground swell and dirty water, but further offshore we were able to get an easy limit of big Seabass with a mess of Scup and a couple Cod.
Tue Nov 19 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We started out in the deep and the drift was good. Once that slowed down and some dogfish showed up we moved to the shallower water and anchored. We had a nice pick of Porgies, SeaBass and a couple of Cod with limits around the boat. We also had some Bonito, Trigger Fish, and a handful of Bluefish. The first place pool winner was Glen Montrose from Brooklyn with a 2.8 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Tony Lewis from NY with a 6 lb Bonito. This trip will be sailing Wednesday morning a 5AM.

Capt Steven Jr reports that we put a good trip together with the guys from Watermill Building Supply. We started off Blackfishing and picked away at them putting a decent catch together. From there we went off SeaBassing and again had a pick, but we still got our limit. We also had about a half dozen Cod. After that we made another Blackfish drop and picked a few more nice ones before we called it a day.
Fri Nov 15 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports decent fishing on the Viking Starship. We had a good mixed bag of mostly Porgies and SeaBass. We also had about 10 Cod and a bunch of Bluefish and not very many dogfish. The first place pool winner was Ouangaie Ibernan from Manhattan with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Shaotang Liu from New Hyde Park, NY with an 8 lb Cod.
Fri Nov 15 – Cod & SeaBass – Viking Star
Capt Steven Sr reports an all out Fall Fishing Bonanza Slam on the Viking Star! We had a full boat limit of SeaBass with four between 6.0 and 6.2 lbs weighed in. There were about 14 Cod up to 16.4 lbs and Blackfish up to 8.7 lbs. It was tough to get through the SeaBass to the Cod and Blackfish. They ate everything – crabs, jellyworms – whatever we put down. All in all you couldn’t ask for a better day! The Cod pool winner was Gary with a 16.4 lber. The SeaBass pool winner was Jay D from Brooklyn, NY with a 6.2 lber. The Blackfish pool winner was John Rotondi from Brooklyn, NY with an 8.7 lber. This trip is cancelled for tomorrow Saturday, November 16th.
Thurs Nov 14 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. Fishing was very good with SeaBass up to 5 lbs and a plentiful mix of medium to large Porgies. Our own Alex Briand was high hook on the Cod fish today with four up to 18lbs on a diamond jig and his friend Todd had three Cod, with the largest one caught today at 20 lbs. We had about a dozen Cod around the boat. We also had some Bluefish and luckily the dogfish were not much of a bother. The pool winner was S. Christoforidis from Astoria, NY with a 2.3 lb Porgy.
