Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Wed Oct 30 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a lot of action on the Viking Starship. We stayed offshore all day looking for Jumbo SeaBass and it paid off. The fishing was really good every spot we went to. There was a good mix of Porgies and big SeaBass. The Porgies were mostly medium size today. We tried out four…

Tue Oct 29 – Cod/ SeaBass Charter – Viking Fivestar

Capt Steven Jr reports that we ended up putting a good catch of SeaBass together for the day. We had less than favorable conditions with an easterly wind, but we managed to stay clear of the dogs all day. It was quiet as far as the Cod and Blackfish bite goes. Only seeing a couple of each. The biggest SeaBass weighed in at 4.6 lbs.

Tue Oct 29 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We stayed close to Block Island today drifting and had a nice mix of SeaBass and Porgies to start. Porgy fishing picked up in the afternoon and we had limits all around the boat. We also had some Trigger fish, Bonita, Bluefish and three Striped Bass to round out the day. The pool winner was Pete Seabrooke from Kings Park, NY with a 3.1 lb Scup.

Sat Oct 26 – Striped Bass Fishing

Capt Carl reports a very slow night on our Night Bass trip on the Viking Starship. We tried everywhere and everything but to no avail… one lonely Bluefish made its way over the rail and just a couple Sea Bass. While we are still sailing DAILY on a couple of different day fishing trips, we are officially calling it a season for 2019 Night fishing trips and want to thank everyone for joining us this year! Our day fishing trips are targeting Porgies and Sea Bass on the Viking Starship every day at 5AM and we also have ULTRA LIMITED Cod and Sea Bass trips on the Viking Star every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Bottom fishing has been absolutely awesome!! The Viking Fivestar also has some Split Trips available for Cod, Sea Bass, and Blackfish. Call our office or…

Sat Oct 26 – Block Island Cod & SeaBass – Viking Fivestar

Capt Steven Jr reports a good day after a picky start. We had to move around quite a bit to avoid the dogfish, but at the end of the day we found a nice pile of SeaBass to work on. All but a couple of guys had their limit and a pile of Scup. Only a couple of Cod came up for the day. Hopefully this next blow will help move the dogs out so we can get to the deeper areas.

Sat Oct 26 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports excellent fishing on the Viking Starship. We spent the day by Block Island up close and shallow with a steady pick of Porgies and SeaBass. We also had a couple of Bluefish and a few Bonita. The first place pool winner was Magdy Elsharouny with a 2.8 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Rosabel Basurdo with a 3.2 lb SeaBass. The trip is cancelled tomorrow, Sunday October 27th due to weather.

Fri Oct 25 – SeaBass/Blackfish Charter – Viking Fivestar

Capt Steven Jr reports a great charter on the Viking Starship. We had a group of local guys out for the day and we ended up with a nice pile of Blackfish and a nice load of SeaBass. Blackfishing was very good for the first hour, but as the tide changed things slowed down. From there we went Seabassing and picked away at mixed size fish. We ended the day picking up a few more Togs.

Fri Oct 25 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a much improved day on the Viking Starship. We started off at Block Island and we had a good shot of Porgies and SeaBass, but the SeaBass were just keeper size. We then headed to the good deep drop SeaBass spot, but it was loaded with dogfish. Double headers!! So we moved a bit to the shallow water and had a good mix of Porgies and SeaBass. The Seabass were up to 5 lbs. There was only 1 Cod caught today. The first place pool winner was Tony Wong with a3.6 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Daniel Drachenberg with a 7 lb Bonita.

Thurs Oct 24 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a slower day on the Viking Starship. We hit our inside spot first and it was a slow pick, so we headed offshore and it was better, but still slower than it has been. There were mostly medium size Porgies with some nice quality fish in the mix. We also had 10 keeper Cod and quite a few Bluefish. We did not have much of a dogfish problem to speak of today. The first place pool winner was Jin Hong Dong from NYC with a 3.11 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Troy Walker with a 6.8 lb Cod.

Wed Oct 23 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started out up close to the island while the drifting conditions were good. We had a nice pick of quality size Porgies until the tide started running hard. We then went offshore and had a mix of Porgies, SeaBass, about 10 keeper Cod and a bunch of shorts on the anchor. It was a nice day of fishing and the dogfish did not bother us as much today as they have been. The winner of the first place pool and the edible pool was Danny Ko with a 3.3 lb Porgy and a 10 lb Bonita.
