Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Wed Nov 6 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports excellent fishing on the Viking Starship. We went offshore and had a mix of big Porgies and quality SeaBass. There were still some dogfish, but it wasn’t much of a problem. We had over a dozen Cod in the 7 to 10 lb range. Bobby Bang from Brooklyn told the captain he had a SPECTACULAR day! The pool winner was Effren Bautista with a 3.2 lb Porgy. Honorable mention goes to long time Viking angler Steve Schwartz with a beautiful 20 pound Cod!

Mon Nov 4 – Block Island Cod/SeaBass/Blackfish Charter

Capt Steven Jr reports that we had James and his crew out on Monday and we had slower action on the Tog then the day before, but we still put a good catch together along with a full limit of quality Seabass. We also had a mess of Scup and a couple Cod in the mix.

Tue Nov 5 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good trip on the Viking Starship. We headed offshore and spent the day grinding it out. There were more Porgies today and it was a large to medium mix. Mon Nov 4 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. Our first drop was offshore and we had a mix of medium Porgies and some SeaBass. We also had about 10 keeper Cod up to 12 pounds, a couple of Bonita and only a handful of dogfish were a nuisance today. We had an awesome day with plenty of action and limits all around the boat. Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started out up close to Block Island and had bigger Porgies today, but it was a bit of a slower pick. We then headed offshore and anchored up and had a mix of medium size Porgies, SeaBass up to 4 1/2 lbs, some Bonita and 1 Cod. The first place pool winner was James Corrello from Maryland with a 2.9 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Alex Condono with a 4.6 lb Cod.

Sat Nov 2 – Block Island Cod/SeaBass/Blackfish – Viking Fivestar

Capt Steven Jr reports a tough start to the day while trying some deep water spots, but as we worked inshore fishing got better and better. We ended up with everyone having their limit of nice SeaBass and we had a good pick of Blackfish in the afternoon sending everyone home with at least one or two. It is still quiet as far as Cod we are only seeing a couple a day coming up.

Sat Nov 2 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started out fishing inshore and drifted for a few hours. It was mostly Porgies so we headed offshore. Everyone pretty much had their SeaBass limits and the Porgies were mostly medium size. We had some dogfish, but we were in the shallower areas so it was more of a minor inconvenience today. The first place pool winner was Pavlo Gregorio from Hillside, NJ with a 2.3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Victor De Jesus from Bronx, NY with q 3.3 lb Seabass.

Sat Nov 2 – Cod & SeaBass

Capt Steven Sr reports a good day despite the battle with the dogfish on the Viking Star. We had a good pick of SeaBass at all of the spots we tried until the dogs got on us. We bounced around and by the end of the day it was a full boat limit of SeaBass, a handful of Cod and a couple of Blackfish. Two mates and a helper filleted fish for two hours and twenty minutes back to the dock. All in all a good day! The Cod pool winner was Wei Jun Zhong from Hicksville, NY with a 12.5 pounder. The SeaBass pool winner was Eugene Lo from Forest Hills, NY with a 4.75 pounder. This trip is cancelled for tomorrow, Sunday November 3rd. The Viking Starship will be sailing for Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass…
