Fri June 7 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports pretty steady action this afternoon on the Viking Star.  Due to State regulations we released a lot of SeaBass that were out of season along with out of slot limit  sized Striped Bass. However picking through the short sized Fluke we did manage to boat a few nice keeper Fluke.

Fri Jun 7– Montauk Spring Porgies

Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starlite. This morning started off excellent with fish biting their heads off at first light, with a lot of mixed sizes. They bit until the sun got itself higher in the sky and they became a little picky, as it slow down for a few hours. Eventually we worked our way into some deeper water and got back on the bite with a little cloud coverage and our last hour/ last drop made up for it with mostly large fish.  The first prize pool winner went to Amir Hossein from Jamaica, Queens with a 3 lb Porgy. Spaces are limited for tomorrow’s trip, make sure to call or book online to guarantee a spot for tomorrow (Saturday, June 8th).

Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starlite. This morning started off excellent with double headers one after the other with a nice mix of sizes between medium and large. After the bite dropped out a bit we did some moving around looking for those large and jumbo Porgies and found a nice pile that we worked for about an hour, fish were pretty much between 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. Our pool winner today was Alex, from Queens with a nice 3 lb Porgy.

Sun Jun 2 – Montauk Spring Porgies

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Starlite. It was all Porgies all the time today, having fish at every drop. We did around two drops today and had a really nice pick of mostly large sized Porgies. The Porgies were definitely biting today and most people had their limit. The pool winner today went to Javier Palacios from Bay Shore with a 2.4 lb Porgy. We are definitely sailing again tomorrow (Monday, June 3rd) at 5 am for our Montauk Spring Porgies.

Sat June 1 – Night Squid Jigging

Capt Carl reports much improved squid fishing tonight… with high hook capturing just about 100 pieces of quality calamari! As soon as we anchored up we started catching them on the bottom, with double headers mixed in. Well, that only lasted for about 10 minutes. Then we had a lull until the giant bait ball…

Sat Jun 1 – Montauk Spring Porgies

As reported by Captain Dave, the full-day trip had a great start, catching large jumbo Porgies, which lasted about 2 hours. After this, there was a bit of a dry stretch, but once Captain Dave had the idea of moving towards deeper waters, the trip started catching an immense amount of Porgies with some 5-pound Weakfish scattered in. Our pool winner today was Kacinda from Bay Shore, New York, with a 3-pound Porgy. Our edible pool winner was Saua Paulino from New Jersey with a 5-pound Weakfish. We will be sailing again tomorrow at 5 am.
