Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Mon Sept 7 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We had a mix of medium to large Porgies with a few jumbos mixed in at the lighthouse. There was plenty of action and we also had a few Fluke. We went to the east for SeaBass and found a mix of Porgies and SeaBass. We had to pick through the little ones, but pretty much everyone had their limit. The first place pool winner was Avi Sheena with a Jumbo 3.3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Mary Peterson from York, PA with a 4 1/2 lb SeaBass.

Mon Sept 7 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We caught JUMBO porgies, nice sized Sea Bass and a couple nice keeper Fluke. The pool winner was R Seltzer from Bridgehampton, NY with a 3 lb Fluke.

Sun Sept 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Captain JR reports another great trip on the Viking Star with lots of action. Porgies and jumbo Sea Bass were coming up all trip long. Lots of action. There were several keeper Fluke and Trigger Fish in the mix. First place in the pool went to Andrew Cabalire of Katonah, NY with a 6.75 pound Fluke. The edible pool winner was Brooke Drzyga from Stamford, CT with a 4.5 pound Sea Bass.

Sun Sept 6 – Montauk Lighthouse Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a great day on the Viking Starship. It was a little slower start at the lighthouse today. We had a couple of drifts where the Porgies were smaller then we like and the bite was a little spotty. After we moved to the East, the fishing improved in a big way. Larger Porgies and quality Sea Bass started coming over the rail. We had a nice variety of fish including Fluke and Trigger Fish. Lennox Hinkson of Westbury, NY won the first place pool with a 3 lb Porgy and Jess Hernandez of Brooklyn, NY won the edible pool with a 5 lb Fluke.

Sun Sept 6 – LTD Passenger – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Stephen D reports a great trip on the Viking Starlite. We began the day near the Montauk Lighthouse and found some quality Porgies that were large to jumbo. We moved off east towards Block Island and had some excellent Sea Bass fishing. Not many shorts. Plenty of keepers and plenty of meat for our anglers to take home. Eladio Campos of Queens, NY won first place with a 3 1/4 pound Porgy.

Sun Sept 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports a decent trip with the primary catch being Sea Bass and Porgies. We also had some real nice keeper fluke in the mix.  Action was consistent all morning long. The pool winner was Raven Dowling from Queens, NY with a beautiful 6.2 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Jonathan Bonilla from Long Beach, NY with a 5 lb Trigger Fish.

Sat Sept 5 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had a nice bite. We ended up with a mixed bag of Sea Bass, Porgies, Fluke, Mackerel and even a couple of Trigger Fish! The pool winner was Ruslan Yarkovski from Brooklyn, NY with a 6.5 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was William Gati from Queens, NY with a 5.5 lb Trigger Fish.

Sat Sept 5 – LTD Passenger – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Steven Sr. reports a phenomenal day of fishing on the Viking Starlite. We stayed over by the lighthouse and worked on Porgies and Sea Bass. Then we went into deeper water and caught Jumbo Porgies, Mackerel, Trigger Fish, and Sea Bass. We had an overall amazing trip where everyone went home happy. The pool winner was Rosario Mineo from Montauk, NY with a 3.5 lb Porgy.

Sat Sept 5 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and and Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing with tons of Porgies. We spent the morning out by the lighthouse and caught some nice size Porgies. Then we decided to go a little to the east, where we dropped the anchor and had lots of action. Over there we caught lots of Sea Bass with some Porgies mixed in. Over by Block Island we caught some beautiful Porgies, and some nice size Sea Bass ranging up to 5 lbs. The pool winner was Cameron Boyce from Queens, NY with a 2.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Ezequiel Bautista from Corona Queens, NY with a 5 lb Sea Bass.

Sat Sept 5 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The fish bit from the start of the first drift until the end of the last drift. We had jumbo Porgies, a lot of Fluke including some nice size keepers and nice size Sea Bass. It was a great morning on the water. The pool winner was George Evans from Rockville Center, NY with a 7.5 lb Fluke. The second place pool winner was Hanna & Kelly from Astoria, Queens with a 5.25 lb Fluke.

Fri Sept 4- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had a nice catch of sea bass and porgies. No keeper fluke, but a couple small bluefish. The pool winner was Angelo Demetroulakus from Brooklyn, NY, with a 3.25 lb Sea Bass.

Fri Sept. 4 Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass

Capt. Dave reports a good day of fishing for Porgies, but a little slow on the Sea Bass bite. We spent the morning half way to Block Island, there we had a good pick of Porgies and a handful of Sea Bass. Then we decided to go for Sea Bass, we had a good pick of Sea Bass and we had tons of Porgies in the Sea Bass ground. The fishing over there was good everyone got or got close to their limit with some beautiful fish to take home. We finished the day going back by the Lighthouse for Porgies, over there they were off the bite again because of the full moon tide so we had to pick through the small fish but we caught a couple nice keepers over there.
