Sat Sept 28 – Full Day Charter – Viking Fivestar
Capt Steven Jr reports a productive day on the Viking Fivestar full day trip. We ended up with a nice load of SeaBass up to 4 lbs and Big Porgies. We also had a 36 lb Striped Bass. The group went home with a load of fillets!
Sat Sept 28 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The trip started slowly on the first couple drifts. Then the bite started and there were plenty of fish coming over the rails. We ended up with a nice catch of sea bass along with some porgies and 1 nice striped bass. The first place pool winner was J.R. Stevenson from East Hampton, NY with a 12 lb Striped Bass. The second place pool winner was Matthew Loesch from Garden City, NY with a 4.1 lb SeaBass.
Fri Sept 27 – 1/2 Day Charter PM – Viking Fivestar
Capt Derek reports a good afternoon on the Viking Fivestar. We started off on the south side with a slow drift. It didn’t avail to much so we went up to the north and found the scup. There was plenty of action and nice size Porgies with some keeper SeaBass mixed in.
Fri Sept 27 – 1/2 Day PM
Capt Dave G reports a very good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We did much better than this morning. We ended up with plenty of Porgies, Bluefish and a couple Jumbo SeaBass. The pool winner was Larry Silverman from Amagansett, NY with a 3 lb SeaBass.
Fri Sept 27 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports phenomenal Porgy fishing on the Viking Starship. The early drop was very very good, but there were only a handful of SeaBass. We went looking for the SeaBass, but we only found a few with Porgies mixed in. We also had 1 Cod, short Striped Bass, Bluefish, Fluke, and some Green Bonitos. The first place pool winner was George Reid from PA with a 2.9 lb Scup. The edible pool winner was Billy Lau from Brooklyn, NY with a 5.6 lb Cod.
Fri Sept 27 – 1/2 Day AM
Capt Dave G reports a slow morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had a beautiful morning but the bite was slower than we have been seeing. Still we managed to put together a catch of Porgies, SeaBass and a couple Fluke. The pool winner was Mary Howard from East Hampton, NY with a 4.5 lb Fluke.
Fri Sept 27 – 1/2 Day Charter AM – Viking Fivestar
Capt Derek reports a good morning on the Viking Fivestar. We started out drifting by the lighthouse with jigs and eels and picked away at small Bluefish and short Striped Bass. We managed two decent keeper Striped Bass along with a few SeaBass and Porgies mixed in.

Tue Sept 24 to Thurs Sept 26 – 48 Hour Tuna Charter Capt Steven Jr reports that we had an awesome trip offshore with Bob Sullivan and crew on their annual tuna trip. We stayed chunking the entire trip and had steady pick of fish both day and night. We ended up with 9 quality Yellowfin in the 60-80lb range, 5 Albacore, 1 Swordfish, and 2 Big Eyes weighing in at 135lbs and an impressive 284.5! We marked fish consistently through the day and night and we can’t wait to get back out there!! The Viking Fivestar has a couple openings on our last 2 open boat trips of the year on the October 4th – 48 Hour Tuna and Oct 11th – 36 Hour Tuna trip. Thurs Sept 26 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports very good fishing today on the Viking Starship. We drifted in one area all day and found everything we needed. It was a good pick of large Porgies and SeaBass. The winner of both pools today was Lennie Owes from Brooklyn, NY with a 3 lb Porgy and a 4.5 lb SeaBass.
Wed Sept 21 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports much improved fishing on the Viking Starship. We started out early around the island drifting until it got fast, then we made a few anchor drops. The fishing was good with some big SeaBass. We went back to drifting and it was very good with mostly large and jumbo Porgies and SeaBass. We also had two keeper Striped Bass and some throwbacks. The first place pool winner was Michael Hill with a 3.1 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Marua Roberts from Brooklyn, NY with a 29 1/2″ – 7.5 lb Striped Bass.
Tue Sept 24 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports the toughest day the Viking Starship has had in a long while. There was a giant ground swell on and the water was dirty. We marked them and worked hard at it, but they just didn’t want to bite. After trying a bunch of drifts and anchoring we ended up with some Porgies, a few nice SeaBass, and a couple of Cod. The first place pool winner was Sing Wong from Manhattan with a 3.4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Philip Marinos with a SeaBass.
Tue Sept 24 – 48 Hour Tuna Split Charter – Viking Fivestar
9/20-9/22 Capt Steven Jr reports a decent trip with a mixed bag of 8 Yellowsfin, 2 nice Wahoo, a Swordish and Mahi. The yellows were mixed sizes with the biggest around 80 lbs and the sword was around the same. We had 5 sword bites at night but we could only get the one to stay attached. We are looking forward to getting back out there this week and getting revenge. We only have two open boat trips left for 2019 with available spots!
