Sunset Stripers Jigging Trip
Capt Ant reports a solid night of fishing aboard our Sunset Striper Special. We had a decent amount of keepers and blues and even a fluke in the mix. Unfortunately our wind against tide drift made conditions difficult for a square drift we still managed to pick all trip. Pool winners were: Mr Scorzelli with a 17lb Second was a tie with Matitchine and Barvstein with a 16pounder
Half Day Fluke PM
Capt Ant reports an afternoon of Fluking for the ages!!! We not only bailed keeper fluke, we bailed JUMBOS!! Over 40 keepers were landed in 2 hours time. With mates Eric, Steve and Ant Jr, we came to a crew decision to dare to be different and leave the crowd behind, so we steamed off beyond our normal half day zone and were rewarded with hefty flatties hungry for meat. Steve the Machine Bento led the way with 6 to 6 lbs. the pool winner was just shy of 7lbs. This body of fish seemed from the same mold, all fat 3-5lbers. We also had some jumbo Sea Bass and even an 18lb Striper. Families left the beautiful Viking Star with offshore size bags of fillet. Pool Winners were;
Sorry for the long report but somedays its just so damn nice to fish like a Viking!!!
Half Day Fluke AM
Capt Ant reports a fantastic morning with tons of action and even better buckets of keepers. We started our day on the beautiful south side and picked away among the shorts with a respectable catch. As the tide eased we moved a bit east of the light and found a mother load of keepers. 6,5,4,3 lb fish being netted and in two drifts we easily doubled our total. Pool winners were Jack Collage from Naples FL with a 6.22lber for first place and Aldo Rodriguez from East Quogue with a 5.2lber.
Full Day Porgies and Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a very good day of porgy fishing today. The catch was mostly porgies with a few sea bass mixed.
