Night Striped Bass
Captain Ant reports a decent local trip, although we had the unfortunate end of tide-slack for a good part. Our first drift had rods bent with bass & blues. After that all blues until the last drift where we landed more bass. The pool was swept by Billy Coppola from Pleasantville, NY with a 17lbs and a 13lbs.
Half Day Fluke PM
Capt Stephen Francis reports decent action with porgies and sea bass in the mix. We had lots of shorts with a good mix of keepers. Today’s pool winner was Debbie Ruggirello of Islip with a 4lb fluke.
Montauk Local Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a slow start this morning on the porgy boat. The weather wasn’t ideal at the start, but as the day went on, the weather got better and so did the fishing. We managed a solid catch of nice sized porgies along with some keeper fluke. The sea bass bite was excellent today, especially towards the end of the trip. Almost everyone had their limit on some really nice big sea bass. Today’s first place pool winner is Ivan Grbic of Baldwin with a JUMBO 3lb porgy and in second place was Miguel Vasquez with a 6lb fluke.
3 Day Tuna & Tile Limted
Capt Carl reports a great start to our 2014 Tuna season on the Viking Star !Each night we were out we caught large Yellow fin Tuna in the 50-80lb range. There were lots of bites and lots of break offs but we loaded a great amount too. Bring heavy gear, because the fish are big and mean! Tile fishing was pretty tough. We did fine the first day catching tiles, some Northern Grouper, some barrel fish and hake. We also caught some nice mahi mahiĀ trolling between drops. The Second day was awful, but we ended up trolling up some albacore and more mah mah. All in all it was a good trip with lots of tuna and everyone was Happy. The Tuna pool winner Mark Checki from Bergen County, NJ with a 81.9s yellow fin The Tile pool winner Christopher Link from Bronx, NY with a 38.5lbs
