Christmas Cod
An updated report of today’s excellent cod fishing on the Starship. First off a correction, Thomas Alexopolous took high hook honors with 15 keepers and an equal number of shorts. Not 50 as initially reported…damn cell service:) We started our with a couple of strong drifts with many rods bending. It was 50/50 on shorts to keepers however we still managed to put a good amount on the boat. As the sun got higher the bite slowed to an occasional flurry. We marked em but obviously they were on their siesta. Then like a switch, they turned on and got bigger and bigger it seemed. Nice fat 8-12lb green cod flying with a few doubles in the mix. Besides Tommy, Tommy’s dad, Martin Wellen Dowd, Dave “Bunk Man” Duffy and Sully all had above average days and went home with big bags of fillet. John Brown from Middletown took the second place pool with a 14lb cod. But it was Paul “dead stick” Keresli who finally landed his steaker on the last drift at 18lbs. Jigs absolutely crushed the fish early and bait worked better in the afternoon. Besides a little rain in the forecast, tomorrows sea conditions look awesome again and remember the fish are already wet so come on out as the Starship will be ready to rock!!

Block Island Mixed Bag Cod and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. We had a decent pick of cod along with a few sea bass up to 3-4lbs. We also had about 25-30 porgies today, which is the most we have seen all month! Today’s first place pool winner was Dennis Schulz of Medford with a 13lb cod and in second place was Matthew Broderick of Brooklyn with an 11lb cod.

Captain Dave reports a slow day aboard the Viking Starship. We still managed a catch of about 16 kleeper cod along with some nice sea bass. Everyone had their limit of sea bass or close to it. Today’s pool winner was Kevin Williamson of North Babylon with a 12lb cod.
