Montauk Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports rough conditions on the Viking Starship. Fishing was okay today, but not fantastic due to the fast drift. We put a nice catch together of mixed porgies and a lot of sea bass. The first place pool winner was Colombia from the Bronx with a 3.8 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Tito Agosto from Brooklyn, NY with a 12 lb striped bass. * Tomorrow is our first day of Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass. Departing at 5am and Returning at 3pm. The fare is $100/Adult and $50/Child (5 – 12 yrs). We will be heading out further is search of the jumbo porgies and sea bass!
1/2 Day Fluke – AM
Capt Liam reports a slow start in rough and choppy conditions. Fishing picked up towards the end of the trip and we caught a bunch of keeper fluke. We didn’t have any sea bass or porgies.
1/2 Day Fluke – PM
Capt Liam reports a good start with a nice shot of fluke. We went searching for sea bass after that and we found a lot of life, but the wind picked up making for a slow ending to the trip. We did have an 8 lb fluke brought on board, but he wasn’t in the pool. The pool winner was Vernon Pollard with a 4 lb fluke.
