Montauk Jumbo Summer Porgies Captain Dave reports a great day of fishing today aboard the Viking Star. Fishing started off like a house on fire with lots of beautiful big fish. We anchored up and stayed in the same zone south of the lighthouse for a couple of hours. We picked through most of the bigger fish here until we were getting mostly medium sized scup. Then we drifted east of the lighthouse and found some more nice sized fish as well as plenty of big Sea Bass which were all returned unharmed. We also caught a keeper Striper and some Fluke. The pool winner was Cornell Armstrong from NJ with a nice 3lb Porgy.

Montauk Jumbo Poriges Captain Dave reports a solid day of fishing today aboard the Viking Star. We started in the morning slowly picking away and then the bite turned on and we caught a bunch of nice quality fish. We spent some extra time to get those jumbo Porgies.  We also had a couple of Fluke and some Sea Bass in the mix which were all released unharmed. Todays Pool winner was  Kendall Pinder from Albany NY, with nice jumbo 3.5lb Porgy.

Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Paul reports an excellent day of fishing aboard the Viking star. The weather was perfect and fishing couldn’t of  been better. We drifted away and had plenty of Porgy action all day. We also had a few Stripers coming over the rails as well as some Sea bass which were all returned unharmed. The Pool Winner was Danny Yuen from Queens with a nice 3.7lb Porgy.

Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports another good day of porgy fishing aboard the Viking Star. There were plenty of porgies today- we went searching for the nice ones and we found them! All nice BIG quality fish today, with only a few small ones mixed in. But we had mostly all big fish today….

Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a decent day of porgy fishing today. There was a big ground swell, but that didn’t stop us from having a full day of fishing and managing to get everyone to their limit of porgies. They were all mixed sizes. We also had one striped bass and a bunch of sea bass that were all released unharmed. Today’s pool winner was Kevin Huang “Flounder of Brooklyn” with a nice 3lb porgy.

Cod/ Fluke Special Captain Steve Sr reports a very good trip offshore this past week. We had cod, haddock, halibut, fluke were all caught aboard the Viking Starship! It was as good as it gets on day 1 for cod fishing- we had nice size fish from 5-9lbs. The haddock ran very good as well….

Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports another great day of Porgy fishing aboard the Viking Star this morning. We anchored up and the bite was strong early in the morning. We dropped and moved two or three times and there was plenty of action each time. There was plenty of nice large Porgies and just a handful of smaller ones. We also got two keeper Stripers. The Pool winner was Joseph Leesang with a 3.5lb Porgy.

Half Day Fishing PM Captain Steven Jr reports a slower afternoon of fishing than this mornings trip. We had some tough conditions, but we still managed a handful of keepers. It was still better fishing than we have seen so far this season. Today’s first place pool winner was John Tuohy of Sag Harbor with a 4.2lb fluke and in second place was James Mazzara of Bellport with a 3.8lb fluke.

Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a good day of porgy fishing today! We drifted first thing this morning and had really nice big fish! Then we anchored by the lighthouse and picked away all day. We had a mixed size porgies, 1 keeper fluke, 1 striped bass and a bunch of sea bass, that were all released unharmed. All in all, it was a really good day fishing. Today’s pool winner was Donald Moy of Manhattan with a nice big 3.75lb porgy.
