Back to Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Thurs June 21

Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies
Capt Dave reports very good fishing all around on the Viking Star. We drifted at the lighthouse with wind against tide and had a nice slow drift. We had the right conditions to stay on them with everyone retaining their limits of Jumbo Scup. It was so good we were throwing back fish that would be a good size on an average day. There was no pool today, but fish were caught up to 4 lbs.

Attention Viking Fishing Fanatics!

We have finally received official word from the New York DEC that the Black Sea Bass season will open this Saturday June 23rd! The size limit is 15 inches and the bag limit is 3 Fish per person until September 1st when the bag limit will increase to 7 fish per person.

We will be sailing everyday for Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass on the 100 ft. Viking Star and fishing has been RED HOT for both Porgies and Sea Bass, and on Saturday we will finally be able to keep the Sea Bass! The Captain and crew are very excited for the Sea Bass to open and are looking forward to help you catch your limits! They will be constantly going around to keep you supplied with bait and help you fill your coolers!

Also keep in mind beginning June 30th, the Jumbo Porgy and Knothead Sea Bass trips will be on the recently upgraded 144 ft. Viking Starship!

We look forward to seeing you all this weekend while the fishing is absolutely phenomenal! The crew has fresh bait and Mavros will have fresh Porgy sandwiches in the Galley! See you onboard!
