Tues Oct 15 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a fair to good day fishing on the Viking Starship. We started drifting inshore of Block Island with almost perfect conditions- long slow drift in an easy tide. We had a steady pick, but no Jumbo Porgies today. Things got rough with the wind against the tide and we moved offshore. As the day progressed the seas were calm and sun strong. Offshore we had a slow pick of Porgies, Sea Bass and 8-10 Cod. The Cod were green; a good sign for the upcoming trips at the Viking Fleet that will focus on Block Island Cod and Sea Bass. The Dogfish were present offshore, but not as bad as a couple of days ago. First place in the pool was a tie between Robert Lisica and Dwayne Sherard with 3.3 pound Scup. Second place went to Bill Milton with a 9.1 Cod. We will be going back to Block Island tomorrow, leaving Montauk at 5 AM.
