Sun Oct 20 -Block Island Cod and Sea Bass – Viking Star

Capt Steven Sr. reports from the Viking Star. Such a beautiful day on the water had us steaming a little further to the East than Saturday. Lo and behold when our anglers dropped their lines in the water we had arrived at Jumbo Sea Bass city. Unfortunately many Dogfish were mixed in with the Sea Bass. The quality and size of the Sea Bass was well worth staying in that location and dealing with the Dogfish. We did manage a handful of Cod, maybe a dozen or so, but due to the density of Sea Bass and Dogfish our bait couldn’t stay on the bottom long enough for the Cod to find it first. Definitely a great day for quality jumbo Sea Bass. All of our anglers went home with their limit of Sea Bass. Jimmy Daliesso of East Rockaway, NY won the first place pool with a 6 pound Cod. Fu Qiang He of City Island, NY won the edible pool a 5.6 pound Sea Bass.
