Fri June 4 – XXXL Tile Hunt NO ELECTRICS – LTD

Capt Steven Sr reports a tremendous offshore trip on the Viking Starship. Knowing that bad weather was coming at the end of the trip, we took a long ride to the far and deep. The start to the trip was very very good. We had Tile, Pollock, Hake and Cusk with action on all drops. After lunch the coolers needed to be emptied, so the fish were filleted to make room for more. We took a ride to check out new areas and found a lot of nice Tile, Barrelfish and Hake. We worked the area for 2 hours catching well. Around 6pm the Wreckfish showed up. We got in 3 drifts that all produced a few Wreckfish, Tile and a gigantic Sea Serpent – Silver Eel. That came in a 6′ 2″ and weighing 40 to 50 lbs. You could have put a football in its mouth and not even noticed! Honorable Mention goes to George Spath for landing that monster. Second Honorable Mention goes to Henry Rudolph for landing an 18 lb Snowy Grouper. All in all the first day was SLAMMER! The second day was tough in the AM with heavy rain and dark skies. Then it lightened up and the Tile started biting. We fished until 3pm then called it a trip to beat the weather coming home.
