Sat Aug 13 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We had the right conditions at the lighthouse to start the day and the Porgy fishing was very good. We caught half of our fish on the first drift that was an hour long. When the full moon tide started running hard we moved down the beach to calmer water and found a mixed bag of Porgies and Sea Bass. We headed east to the Sea Bass grounds and they were off the bite today. Everyone managed a few, but it was not as good as we have been seeing. The first place pool winner was Ariel Reyes from Levittown, NY with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Doges Flones with a 4 lb Sea Bass.
