Thurs Aug 24 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of porgy fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started our morning around the Lighthouse and had nonstop action with some big sized fish. Today we had mostly large size fish on the boat, nothing too jumbo, but definitely a steady pick of large sized Scup. We didn’t see many SeaBass in these grounds so we worked our way towards Block and unfortunately had to pick our way through a lot of little fish to get a couple keeper sized fish. The pool winner today went to Thomas Wynn from Valley Stream, NY with a 2.6 lb Porgy. We will NOT be sailing tomorrow due to poor weather conditions on our 5 am Porgy and Seabass trip (Friday, August 25th). a person holding a fish on a boat in a body of water
