Sat Aug 26 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports some really good fishing today on the Viking Starship despite conditions from a large ground swell. We started our morning anchored up down the beach and had an excellent pick of mixed sized Porgies. We then worked our way back towards the Lighthouse and had a few drifts with a lot of action from some large sized Porgies, but not from the SeaBass so we did work our way to the east. Closer to Block Island we did find a handful of keeper SeaBass, but mostly picked through a lot of little stuff and some more Porgies. The first prize pool winner went to Carmelo Leon from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 1/2 lb. Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Leonard Nangle from Manhattan with a 3 lb. SeaBass. We are definitely sailing again tomorrow on our 5am Montauk Lighthouse Porgies and SeaBass.
