Mon Oct 16- Wed Oct 18: George’s Bank Cod/East End Sea Bass

Capt JR reports an excellent trip onboard the Viking Star. Things started out a little slow, but when we found the fish it was lock and load! Big beautiful Cod and Sea bass made up a majority of the catch. However, we boated a fine catch of pollock, jumbo cunners, and a few hub cap scup to top off the coolers. A very positive note to the trip was that a majority of the cod we landed were significantly larger than we have seen in quite some time. Lots of fish in the teen-sized range with a few over 20 lbs. It was all around a great trip. The first prize for Cod went to Michael Xenakis from Middlleton, NJ with a 25 lb Cod fish. The first prize Sea Bass winner went to Roman Stolyarchuk Morristown, NJ with a 5.5 lb Black Sea Bass. The edible pool winner went to George Hanakis from Perth Amboy with a 9 lb Pollock.
