Mon July 22 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started off our morning with a very long and steady drift picking away at mixed sized Porgies, mostly on the large size. When the tide started running again we ran off to the east, fishing between Block Island and Montauk. We got into a decent mix of both SeaBass and Porgies offshore, with Mackerell at every drop as well. Fishing was pretty good offshore, but we finished our trip off at the lighthouse and had another absolute bail job on the Porgies, with double-headers left and right. We even managed a few keeper Fluke at the end too, and some more Mackerell. The pool winner today went to Alberto Rivera from the Bronx with a 3.1 lb Porgy. We will definitely be sailing tomorrow at 5am.
