Sat Aug 24 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was excellent today, from our first drop we managed a 2 hour drift to start and it was some nice steady fishing. We picked away for a couple hours on mostly large fish with only a few smaller fish in the mix. After loading up on Porgies in the local waters, we ventured off towards Block Island and picked away at some SeaBass. There were some better sized fish today, but we did have to pick through a lot of mackerell. We did find another dozen or so keeper fluke again today around the island. The first prize pool winner went to Karry Chan from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.8 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to George Kanellopoulos from Comack, NY with 6 lb Fluke.
