Mon Sept 2 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a pretty good day of fishing this Labor Day Monday on the Viking Starship. We started our morning off down the beach to get out of that New Moon tide and had some good action for about an hour. We moved on back to the lighthouse and had a nice mix both Porgies and SeaBass, seeming some larger sizes here than we did down the beach. The bite started to drop out after a short while so we decided to take a ride out to the island and had some action, we did have fish biting, but the size was not great. But overall we finished our trip with a nice pile of fish for everyone. The first prize pool winner went to Rod O. from Philly, PA with a 2.6 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Artemio Gonzalez from Manhattan, NY with a 4 lb SeaBass. The weather is looking gorgeous for tomorrow, we will be sailing again at 5am for our Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and SeaBass!
