Fri Sept 6 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a much improved day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started off this morning just south of the lighthouse and had a good bite, but the rougher conditions made for difficult fishing. We had lots of actions with medium sized Porgies, but ended up making our move halfway to Block Island and got into some calmer water and got into some really good fishing. We anchored up here for a couple hours and the bite here was great with some larger sized Porgies and we even boated a 6 lb Fluke. After getting a nice pick of Porgies we worked farther offshore to target some SeaBass and once again had to pick our way through a lot of little stuff to get some keepers. We also saw some little Blue fish around here. The pool winner went to Mitchell Jackson from Uniondale, NY with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. We will definitely be sailing again tomorrow at 5am for our Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and SeaBass.
