Sat Sept 7 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a pretty good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started our morning in one of our usual spots down the beach and didn’t have as much action as we’ve been seeing so we moved offshore after a short while. Once we got into that midway spot between Block Island and Montauk we got into some really good Porgy action, with a some nice size to them. They were definitely on the larger side today in this area. After getting a good shot here we worked our way closer to the island and got into a mixed pick of Porgies and SeaBass, both between the medium and large size. We had some true “stud” porgies today on the boat. The edible pool winner today went to Jorge Ulloa from Maryland with a 4.2 lb SeaBass. The Porgy pool winner went to Rudy Garcia from Philly, PA with a 2.3 lb Porgy. We will definitely be sailing again tomorrow at 5am.
