Fri Oct 11 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a pretty tough day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Our first drop this morning was our best shot as we hugged close to island and had a good pick of both Porgies and SeaBass. Unfortunately, after a short while, the tide started running hard and we made a move offshore to get out of the tougher conditions. In the deeper water we had ok action, but the fish were a lot smaller and the ratio of keepers to throwbacks was not good. There were once again plenty of Mackerell to be caught today in the mix of the fish in the deeper water. The pool winner today went to Glenn Mahon from Islip, NY with a 2.6 lb Porgy. We are sold out for tomorrow’s 5am Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead SeaBass, there is no wait-list. If you do not have a reservation there is no guarantee that you will get on the boat.
