Fri Sept 11 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Full Report to Follow Pool winner was Pete Ambrose from Sag Harbor, NY with a 3 lb SeaBass.

Fri Sept 11 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing on the Viking Star. Porgy fishing was excellent at the lighthouse with mixed size fish. We couldn’t get out to the east with the ebb tide and breeze, so we tried a closer spot and only found a handful of SeaBass and some Porgies there. The first place pool winner was Siv Wah Cheng with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Jose Rodriguez from Flushing, NY with a 7 lb Bluefish.

Wed Sept 9 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good morning of fishing over by the lighthouse this morning. We started out with some nice long drifts at the Lighthouse, we caught small to medium Porgies. We then decided to go a little down the beach and we anchored up there. We caught mostly large Porgies while there. We went Sea Bassing and had to pick through a bunch of small one but we got out fair share of keepers. The pool winner was Konstantions Koufalis from Queens, NY with a 2.7 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Kashka Huges from Brooklyn, NY with a 3 lb Sea Bass.

Sun Sept 6 – Whale Watching Tour

Oh my, 60 Bottle Nose dolphins  and 9 Humpbacks in all! Dr. Artie Kopelman reports a great day of whale sightings. It was a little bouncy as we headed out in search of cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises). We headed directly to where we had seen the whales yesterday, but we couldn’t find them at first and we headed to another area.  It took some time, but we decided to head NNE the eyes of Captain David Marmeno found a whale about 2.3 nautical miles (nm) from where yesterday’s whales were. Once we found our first whale, we began seeing MANY more. We encountered one of Saturday’s whales and stayed with and photographed 3 others within 1.1 square miles. Tue Sept 8 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a tougher day on the Viking Starship. There were smaller Porgies at the lighthouse. It was mainly a mix of medium and large with a few jumbos mixed in. The SeaBass grounds had a lot of small fish to pick through again, but we were very close to our limit. The first place pool winner was Ifa Gordon from the Bronx, NY with a 2.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Mike Sabella from Morganville, NJ with a 3.5 lb SeaBass.

Tue Sept 8 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We caught jumbo Sea Bass, with most passengers on the boat catching their limit. We also had plenty of Porgies and a big Bluefish. The pol winner was Jacob Starcke from Northport, NY with a 5.75 lb SeaBass.

Mon Sept 7 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We caught some nice size Fluke on the first drift. Then we moved outside a little ways and caught some of the biggest Sea Bass of the season! The pool winner was Danielle Sepnieski from Sag Harbor, NY with a 7.5 lb Fluke

Mon Sept 7 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We had a mix of medium to large Porgies with a few jumbos mixed in at the lighthouse. There was plenty of action and we also had a few Fluke. We went to the east for SeaBass and found a mix of Porgies and SeaBass. We had to pick through the little ones, but pretty much everyone had their limit. The first place pool winner was Avi Sheena with a Jumbo 3.3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Mary Peterson from York, PA with a 4 1/2 lb SeaBass.

Mon Sept 7 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We caught JUMBO porgies, nice sized Sea Bass and a couple nice keeper Fluke. The pool winner was R Seltzer from Bridgehampton, NY with a 3 lb Fluke.

Sun Sept 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Captain JR reports another great trip on the Viking Star with lots of action. Porgies and jumbo Sea Bass were coming up all trip long. Lots of action. There were several keeper Fluke and Trigger Fish in the mix. First place in the pool went to Andrew Cabalire of Katonah, NY with a 6.75 pound Fluke. The edible pool winner was Brooke Drzyga from Stamford, CT with a 4.5 pound Sea Bass.
