Wed July 24 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Wed July 24 – 1/2 Day AM Capt Mike reports steady action aboard the Viking Star. The drift was slow, but we managed some keeper Fluke, SeaBass and a bunch of Mackerel at the end. The pool winner was Anthony Pastier from Massapequa, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.

Tue July 23 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a rough afternoon on the Viking Stariper. The fishing was slow and we had leftover wind from the morning storm. Towards the end the fishing picked up and had a couple of keeper Fluke and a bunch of SeaBass. The pool winner was Paul James Logie with a 2 lb Fluke.

Tue July 23 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & SeaBass

Tue July 23 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & SeaBass Capt Dave reports excellent fishing on the Viking Starship. We had nice conditions to start this morning and we had a good mix of Porgies and SeaBass. We stayed at the lighthouse and everyone had their limits with sizes ranging from large to jumbo. We called it quits when a squall came through and everyone was happy to head back in. The pool winner was Elric Jarvis from Bronx, NY with a 3.7 lb Scup.

Tue July 23 – 48 Hour Tuna Trip – Viking Fivestar

48 hr Tuna Trip – Viking Fivestar – 7/19-7/21 Capt Steven Jr reports another great trip offshore this weekend. We had steady action on the Yellow Fin all day, never going more then 45 minutes with out getting fish on. We ended up with our boat limit of 30 yellows from 35-75lbs and released over a dozen other fish and found a stud Big Eye that weighed in at 241lbs!! Fishing offshore remains hot and we are hoping to have a great year. Give the office a call or check the website for all trip info and bookings!

Sun July 21 – Whale Watching

Sun July 21 Humpback action! Once again we headed out to find whales, and as soon as we got past Montauk Lighthouse and onto the Atlantic Ocean, we were out of the heat! Sea surface temperatures were in the upper 60’s, a welcome relief. We headed west towards where humpbacks had been for the past few days and in a short while found one. This 40’ (-13 m) whale, probably weighed 45,000 lbs (-20 metric tons), and was logging (resting at the surface) just as it had done one week earlier. We spent some time with this whale be heading further west. At the Napeague Stretch, we headed offshore for a few miles, then began heading eastward. We saw a whale a few miles ahead, got up to it; it was the same whale we’d seen logging. Not logging now!…

Sun July 21-1/2 Day Trip PM

Capt Phil on the Viking Stariper reports a good day for Sea Bass and Fluke. We caught tons of Porgies some Sea Robins and a couple of Skate. It was a gorgeous day out on the water, and almost everyone went home with fish. The pool winner was Kathleen M Foley Power from West Palm Beach, FL with a 4.5 lb Fluke. pictures to follow.  

Sun July 21- Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies and Seabass

Capt. Dave reports good fishing this morning on the Viking Starship. We went out by the lighthouse got some good size Porgies, then we decided to go out East closer to Block Island where we found a lot of little Porgies and Seabass that we had to pick through to find the nice ones. Overall …

Sat July 20- Night Striped Bass

Capt. Phil on the Viking Starship reports slow fishing but still lots of action. We didn’t start catching much until after dark when we used live eels. We then caught some nice size Striped Bass and several Blues mixed in. The pool winner to follow .

Sat July 20-1/2 Day PM

Capt. Phill reports a slower afternoon. We did have some cation with some nice keepers. The pool winner was Meggin Simmons from Eats Hampton, NY with a 3.75 lb Fluke.
