Montauk

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We started slowly with only a few fish on the first drifts. Then the bite was on, and we made a nice catch of keeper fluke, large sea bass and porgies. It was a beautiful morning on the water. The winner of both pools was Matthew Moskowitz from Plainview, NY with a 5.2 lb Fluke and a 3.75 lb SeaBass.

Capt Carl reports another slow night on the Bass boat. After Thursday’s night of not catching any Bass locally, we ventured off to different grounds in hope of finding some Bass that would cooperate but unfortunately it did not work out for us. Tomorrow is another night and hopefully things change for the better!

Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. We started out by the lighthouse where the fish were slightly smaller than yesterday, but it was very good with plenty of big ones mixed in. The SeaBass fishing offshore was good with everyone getting what they needed, but there were tons of small fish to pick thru. The first place pool winner was Jose Gabriel Mendez from Queens, NY with a 3.41 lb Scup. The edible pool winner was Elias Dantas from Mount Vernon, NY with a 4.9 lb Fluke.

Capt Mike reports a beautiful day aboard the Viking Star. The morning started out fast with rods bending right away. We had a bunch of shorts along with keeper Fluke and a lot of SeaBass. It slowed down in the middle of the trip, but it picked up and we had good fishing until the end. The first place pool winner was first time fisherman Gareth Lewis from the UK with a 6.25 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Philip Petlain from Waterbury, CT with a 4.7 lb SeaBass.

Night Striped Bass Capt Carl reports that fishing was very slow on the Viking Starship. We stayed local all night and fished a weak Ebb Tide and only had a couple of bluefish. The pool winner was Kelvin Gilliam from Miller Place, NY with a 10 lb Bluefish.

Capt Joe reports all the usual suspects on the Viking Star. It was a good turn around from yesterday afternoon. There was a lot action and we had some really nice size keepers. The first place pool winner was 9 year old Leo Ettin from Southampton, NY with a 5.5 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Anthony Distinti from Holbrook, NY with a Jumbo 4.9 lb SeaBass.

Captain Dave reports excellent fishing today from the VIking Starship. We made a couple of drifts near the Montauk Lighthouse and brought in loads of large and Jumbo Porgies. Everyone got their limit. We traveled to the East a lot of time left in the trip. Rods were bending, lots of shorts to start, but within a short time everyone had limited out on Sea Bass. A few Fluke were in the mix. Today’s anglers also brought home a keeper Striped Bass and 2 keeper Cod. Today’s pool winner was Jacob Herrera from Stony Point NY with a 2.7 pound Scup. Another great day on the water.

Capt Carl reports very good fishing on the Viking Star. It was a beautiful day with loads of big beautiful SeaBass. We had a few keeper Fluke with our biggest of the season at 9.55 lbs! The pool winner was Frank Meyers from Throgs Neck, Bronx with a 9.55 lb Fluke.

Captain Steven D reports from the Viking Starship. What a great day to be on the water and fishing. We started out with a little drizzle and then the skies cleared, the humidity lowered and the visibility was outstanding. We fished near the Montauk Lighthouse all day. A lot of quality Jumbo Porgies came aboard and everyone got their limit fairly quickly. Most people also limited on Knothead Sea Bass and the rods were bending continuously. Some nice Fluke were mixed in. A great trip; our customers went home with stuffed coolers. The pool winners were Au Young of Brooklyn NY with a 3.2 pound Scup and second place went to Pete Seabrook of Kings Park NY with a 4.7 pound Fluke. +10
