Montauk

Thurs May 16

Montauk Spring Jumbo Porgies Capt Dave reports good fishing again today. We started out close but there were not a lot of fish yet, so we took the ride again. The first spot we checked out was slow so we looked around and we found a good steady pick of Porgies. We had a bunch of Sea Robbins again today and a few Weak Fish. We saw the biggest Porgy of the season today caught by Kao Cheng Yu from Flushing, Queens, NY coming in at 3 1/2 lbs. We are sailing daily and we will be using the Jumbo 140′ Viking Starship Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the weather is looking great, so come on out and get in on the action!

Wed May 15

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing. We started off the morning fishing close where fishing was slow so we took the ride and fishing was very good. We saw nicer sized fish today and had plenty of Porgies. We did have a good catch of Sea Robins also mixed in on some drifts. As usual we had Sea Bass which were released unharmed as we wait for the season to open in New York. Completing our catch today were 3 Weakfish and some smaller Striped Bass which were also released. Randy Ryan of Wheatley Heights NY was today’s pool winner with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. Captain Dave expects that this recent good weather will improve fishing locally.
