Full Moon Striped Bass Capt Carl reports much improved fishing on our Full Moon special trip tonight on the Viking Starship. It wasn’t the typical kind of Full Moon trip that we have been accustomed to, but after 2 slow weeks of tough fishing, it was a welcome site to have steady action throughout the night catching 0-3 fish per drift and a mix of sizes ranging from shorts to over 40 lbs! We picked away until the end and had half a boat limit of Striped Bass. Travis Letson from Orlando, FL took the pool with a 41 pound beauty!!

Whale Watching 20 Humpbacks!! 100 Bottlenose Dolphins…… Our streak of finding whales continues. This time, within 40 minutes of leaving the dock and about 10 minutes past Montauk Lighthouse we found the first of our 20 humpbacks! There was bait all over – mackerel, sand eels, and bunker. The first 8 whales were feeding on sand eels. The last 12 were feeding on bunker. Single whales and 4 mom/calf pairs were seen. Oh, and loads of bottlenose dolphins too. Breaching, tail throws, flipper drops, and tail kicks happened often. It was an amazing day with non-stop whales for over 4 hours. Night Striped Bass Capt Carl reports another very slow night on the Viking Starship. We had perfect conditions, marked them very well on the bottom machine, but again they just did not want the eels. John Bye from Wantagh, NY took the pool with the only Bass boated, which was a nice 27 pounder.
